The usual small, cylindrical object, with clearance for pilot-only areas but not officer quarters or other higher-level locations.

You glance a little forlornly at the door to the shuttle cockpit, wishing you could be up there as well. As it is, you're content to look at the viewscreen, showing an image of the cruiser in orbit. It draws closer, the angular shape growing closer and closer in the screen. The shuttle glides into the bow hangar of the ship, numbing now on the floor.

In the small hangar, you look around, observing the TIE hangar racks and other ships landed on the hangar floor.

Find an officer to report to.
Explore the hangar.

You cast a look around, searching for the officer who's probably in charge. All you know at the moment is your callsign - Iota 9 - and your rank, Flight Corporal. The layout of an Arquitens is more or less alien to you, especially since your lesson focus was on, well, piloting a fighter, not a light cruiser.

A uniformed man approaches you, a squadron leader by his Flight Captain rank plaque.

"Ah, the new recruits. Gather over here," he calls out louder, getting the attention of the other squadron mates who flew up with you. "You've all been assigned under me, Iota Leader. We'll be flying escort and patrol assignments with our ship, the Vindicator. Head to your barracks and more information will be given out there."

You follow the as yet unnamed officer to your barracks, where you all head to a bunk and await elaboration by the Captain. "I'm your commanding officer - Captain Jolinar. I'm sure I don't need to cover all the basic squadron information or pilot procedures I'm sure you learned at the Academy."

Ask a question (specify).
Let Jolinar continue.

Finding no questions from his audience, Jolinar continued. "I do have a set of more personal rules for my squadron, the foremost of which is very simple:  You will always listen to orders. I do not care if orders are immoral or make no sense, or if they are hard to complete, or not given directly by me. You will follow orders to the best of your ability, even if it gets you killed. Understood?"

You nod along with the rest of the pilots. The captain makes sure everyone understands and moves on. "That should be all for now. We will jump to hyperspace in 2 hours, take the time to familiarize yourself with squadron mates as well as the ship. That is all."

The entire barracks salute him, and Jolinar leaves the room, as the pilots fall about various activities.

Talk to other recruits.
Check your bunk and locker.

Your "locker" is with all the other on the far wall, away from the obstruction of the beds. The locker is more like a small shower, the right side housing your flight suit, and on the left a small room where you have enough room to access your flight suit and change into it, with a wall compartment for extra equipment and your holdout weapon. You take the holdout pistol and slip it into your boot, which is where they usually go.

You gained:
Holdout pistol x1

The other equipment you're meant to put on with your flight suit, so you leave it for now. You return to your bunk and look it over. Whoever your bunkmate is, he's probably off talking to one of the other pilots, because no one else is loitering near your bunk. The bed itself is made out of standard heat-retaining fabric, nothing particularly special. It will serve its purpose.

Talk to other recruits.

Listen in on the closest conversation, without moving from where you are or looking creepy.

Under the guise of inspecting the rest of your bunk, you start listening in on a conversation between two pilots on the other side of the bunk behind you. They seem to be talking aimlessly.

"I heard the final squads of V-wings are being rotated out of service."

"It's about time. They've gone past the obsolete stage at this point."

You start to remake the now mussed bed, still listening.

"Anyway, it looks like the Victorys' are undergoing reevaluation. Some sort of pirate flotilla managed to best a couple of them and escape with some stolen cargo. No one's happy with that."

The other pilot snickers. "Wouldn't be the first time. The Clone Wars models are losing their edge, I'm glad the II's are being implemented."

Before you can hear more, someone bumps into you. You look to your left to see another pilot - a young man around your age - regaining his footing. "Sorry, wasn't looking," he explains in a hurry.

You sigh and tuck the sheets back under the mattress. The mania still standing there. "I'm your bunkmate," he says expectantly.

Introduce yourself.
Say something (specify).
