Title: Kotir. . .
Post by: The Skarzs on January 29, 2015, 01:07:19 AM
Does anyone ever wonder what Kotir was before Verduga took it as his abode? We've heard of the "legend" of St. Ninians, but what was Kotir? Who built it, and for what reason? (Now I'm getting inspiration for a one-shot fanfic. . .)
Perhaps it was set up by the badgers before Salamandastron was discovered and made hospitable; with how the red stone had turned black it must have been centuries-old. Might have been a place of hazy "peace" before some slight order was engraved in Mossflower.

Please share your thoughts.

I always imagined Kotir as a sort of ancient Roman ruin. It's possible that some large empire may have spanned Mossflower before being driven out by vermin barbarians. Mortspear's kingdom could very well be a remnant of this.

Hmm, maybe it was the ruins of an Abbey like Redwall. It makes me wonder, would Redwall ever become like that?

No.

. . . I think he meant as in the color of the stone. Stone will deteriorate, and sandstone is more susceptible to that than other types of stone. They can't exactly wash all the walls anyways.

I wonder if it used to belong to the woodland creatures, but it eventually was abandoned by them until Verduga took it over. Similar to Redwall Abbey, just much older and its a castle and not an abbey...

That might make a good fan fiction, explaining what happened and what the place was before...
