A grey rat scout opened the cloth door to the pavilion. He bowed low to the ground and spoke.

"Your ladyship, we have seen an otter near the rocks by the river. He is mighty and is putting fear in the hearts of the rats, they will not go near the river. None of us can face him."

The vixen did not look down on the scout, she slowly moved her hand through her fur pelt skirt, what was left of her enemies.

"Why, if he is only one have my rats not over powered him" She asked the unfortunate scout.

The rat chose his words unwisely "Because... we were afraid?"

Silvamord grabbed her sword in a blinding flash and slew the helpless rat. She yelled at a guard, "Bring me to the river!"

After much wondering over the southward country the sound of running water came to their ears.

At this the fox drew an arrow from her quiver. She looked at the surrounding trees and rocks, many places to hid, a perfect place to plan an ambush. Silvamord turned her head to look at her soldiers, but they where not there. Her cowardly rats ran away as soon as they had the chance. Only a few were visible far on the hill. She took aim with her bow, but the arrow fell miserably short.

The fox vixen had another arrow on her bow string as she walked through the thick vegetation on the river side.  Where was that otter?......

Jerkin threw himself behind the broad trunk of an oak tree, hiding himself from the arrows which poured around him en masse. Several grey rats had, for the last hour, been trying to shoot at him for no apparent reason. A few arrows landed in the earth around his body making him unable to move from that area.

Jerkin was a river otter. He had traveled southward every year down the streams until he came to this area: Southsward! It was one of the most beautiful areas he had ever seen in his whole life. Green trees, crystal blue waters, and warm days. He swam down the rivers there peacefully enjoying the scenery around him.

It was then when he noticed a key fact. There was nobody around. Not even the crickets chirruped in the heat of the afternoon! On his way down he had never noticed anyone either. Jerkin pondered this question for awhile while the current slowly pushed him downstream. Suddenly, in the sky, he saw several objects which appeared to be sticks in the air coming down. Thankfully he went underwater at the moment they came down or else the barbed tips of the arrows would have pierced him.

After a brief moment of being underwater, he looked up and saw several rat archers on a hill shooting down at the river, apparently aiming at him. Diving underwater again, he slunk to the shore and brought himself up upon it. He stood and the rats saw him and fired all they could so he hid behind a tree. That is where he is now: Stuck behind a tree with vermin rats around him.

After about a half-an-hour of waiting he decided to peak his head up and see if they were still there. He didn't see any rats but he did see a fox! He had to act quickly if he were to not catch the fox. Pulling a long rope from around his waist, he tied it to one of the trees in the forest where he hoped she would come. He then stretched the rope and tied it to another tree. Now he had to wait for her to trip over the rope then he could capture her. He shook some of the bushes near the rope hoping she would see and come near and trip so he could capture her...

Silvamord walked carefully around the river, she was now at the bank among the cat-tails. Nothing, there was nothing at all. The vixen turned around quickly when she heard a noise behind her, was that him? Seeing a bush move, she shot an arrow at it. At that moment a bird flew away for out of the bush. Angry with her self that she was so jumpy, Silvamord stomped carelessly through the trees growing near the river.

"Ahhh!" She cried after tripping over a rope. The vixen got up into a crouch a fast as she could, with her bow posed as a staff.....

Seeing that the fox had not tripped as he thought she would, Jerkin acted quickly. Grabbing his already loaded sling, he swung it round till it was whirling. Then, with all his might, he tried to throw himself at her to knock her over again and possibly hit her in the head with his loaded sling. It was too late to throw himself out of the way when he saw the vixen with the loaded bow and him headed straight for it.

OOC: Side note: She does not have an arrow on her bow at this moment.

The vixen  was thrown off her feet when the otter ferociously crashed in to her. As she would re-call later those few moments where all a blur. Fur, teeth and claws all mixed together in a nightmare which no best would like to dream.

Split! Crack!

The sound of the loaded sling smashing her bow into pieces. Splinters penetrated her flesh painfully. Silvamord rolled to the right in an effort to get free, half way there she got stuck with the dusty sand in her face. Breathing it in with her desperate sobs, the vixen pushed of with her paw and continued to roll as before finaly free on her back.

Getting up once more the fox tryed to pull her sword out.

Jerkin had thrown himself full force at the vixen. Weakening her was a good thing but there was pain on his side also. When he collided with her, his head hit hers. That weakened her but hurt him more because he was the one lunging.

Feeling the fox roll to the right persuaded Jerkin to Jump behind a sycamore tree which was on his left. He flung himself behind it, still seeing stars exploding in his head from the crash. After the first shock was over, he saw her still rolling. He chose to pull out his sling once more. Loading a rock in it, he swung it round and round.

Then he saw her up trying to draw her sword. His sling wasn't fully ready for the throw and he saw that her sword was coming up quick. He decided to run for it east. Taking to his heels, he ran towards a place where he could take on the fox and finish her off.
