I didn't see a topic quite like this, so I decided to make one.
This is the Marvel topic! You can discuss Marvel movies, such as the Avengers. You can discuss the TV Shows like Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.
And remember the spoiler.
*sobs in happiness* Finally! Another Marveller! I love the films and Agents of Shield! (Which I shall be watching tonight :)) And I can't wait for Agent Carter to start!
I want to see that show. . .
Anyone else curious about the Age of Ultron?

Heres a low-quality teaser for Avengers Infinity War. http://youtu.be/Uv2NRpG76Pg (http://youtu.be/Uv2NRpG76Pg)
Hot dang!
So excited for Doctor Strange, GotG 2, Black Panther and Infinity War. I've read the Infinity War comic though there's no guarantee that the film will be the same as Age of Ultron does not seem to follow the plot of its own comic
Yeah; I'm also a bit disappointed by Ultron's moving mouth in the trailer. :P He was much more terrifying when he was more of an emotionless robot; facial movement causes the idea of emotion, which Ultron lacked.
I love that Chadwick Boseman is going to play the Black Panther. I just hope that they don't forget about the Falcon.
Maybe Falcon'll be in Age of Ultron. :P (Wishful thinking.)
I'm keeping up to date on things using a Marvel wiki. And I must have watched the Age of Ultron trailer a thousand times! (exadiration yes but getting there) and by the way you guys should check out the Avengers the Musical youtube videos. Their histerical! (spelling?)
Exaggeration, and hysterical.
Thanks Skar. My phone doesn't have auto-correct.
Np.
?
No problem. :P
Oh.......
ANYWAY........
Who is else dying because Sgents of SHIELD won't be on for another three months?
I've not been able to see it for this long, so I think I'll live rather healthily.
By the way, can you please fix the typo in the title? That is killing me.
Well, it's fixed now but all our old posts say Movues. Sorry.
Does anyone know if Agent Carter is gonna be on in Britain?
No idea, but I saw it last night. You should be able to see it next week on watchabc.go.com.
Hmmmm. I'll see what I can do. I'm busy watchig Lost at the moment so I'll probably hunt it down when I've finished that.
So how does everyone like Agent Carter? I missed last nights episode.
Soooo, does anyone know if Antman is going to make an appearance in Age of Ultron because he is the original creator of Ultron right. Antman is amazing and I can think of some really cool CGI moments with his army of cockroaches and ants and stuff.
Hopefully. I mean, they have an Ant Man movie planned after Age of Ultron, so maybe he'll be in it awaiting a full story.
Ant Man
Ok, here's the deal about him.
1 He's not Hank Pym. The old dude in the trailer is Pym.
2 I am detecting, that because the Age of Ultron (AOU) trailers are showing Stark saying he brought this on them, and the early Ulton is in either his house or Avengers tower, I think it's going to have Stark trying to create a humanitarian AI, and it goes south. Ultron seems to fix humanity he needs to cut the "strings" and kill everyone. This is my running theory.
This is so cool!! Thanks to whoever made this topic!!

Hahaha!! Go Soren!!
And thanks for the *clears throat* gif. made my day! HA

Anyway, how did everyone like the new AntMan trailer? Cool, no?
WAIT!! HOLD THE PHONE!!!!

THERE'S AN ANTMAN MOVIE COMING OUT????!!!!
Yup:
it will be after AOU.
I.....AM.....CRYING....I....AM....SO....HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!
You really need to read all this:
http://marvel.com/news/movies/23547/marvel_studios_announces_full_phase_3_slate_at_special_event (http://marvel.com/news/movies/23547/marvel_studios_announces_full_phase_3_slate_at_special_event)
Full phase 3 slate, new Black Panther, Two Avenger movies, two Captian Americas, Inhumans, new GOTG, all that good stuff.
ANTMN IS SO COOOOOL! So is Wasp going to be thing as well?
Woah now, TWO new Captain America movies?
This sounds really, really good.
Is anyone else really excited to see the new Age of Ultron Avengers movie? That looks awesome!
I'm most looking forward to Black Panther followed closely by Doctor Strange though I don't think either of the two rumoured casting choices work for him (Benedict Cumberbatch and some guy I don't know the name of but have seen when my friend tried to convince me that Cumberbatch would make a good Strange)
I've not heard of Black Panther or Docter Strange, what are they about? Same with a lot of the new marvel movies coming out.
Black panther: King of Waconda (I have no idea how to spell it. . .), a country in Africa locked away in itself, containing both advanced technology mixed with primitive tech. Their source of their tech: vibranium, the metal Capt. America's shield is made of.
Doctor Strange: I know nothing of him other than the fact that he is a magician, and I turned enemies into wooden crates when playing him in the Ultimate Alliance video game.
He was a lowlife who learned magic from a Tibetan Monk. He has a a few magical items, most famously, the Eye of Agammato.
It's Wakanda by the way :D
I WASN'T TOO FAR WRONG! Wooo!
Cool, they sound pretty interesting. I've never really read any comic books (I know, shame on me), so I don't know what any of the new marvel movies are about. But they all sound pretty cool. :)
I think Chadwick Boseman will play a great Black Panther. He's awesome. He was great in
42.
Also: teaser for the new Fantastic 4!
I can't see it... :(
I would like to read the Marvel comics but the stupid male artists draw the female characters disrespectfully >:(
I REALLY wish they would change that
DC isn't any better.
Eh, it varies between characters and artists. Black Widow generally isn't objectified (jut because she wears a catsuit doesn't mean she's objectified) but I'd say Scarlet Witch is objectified quite a lot. I wouldn't say Jean Gray was, but Emma Frost is.
I've read a bunch of DC comics, but only those spanning from the late 1930s to the 1980s. The art definitely changed over the years, and seeing that change happen and watching the art evolve was part of the appeal of reading them. However, past a certain point in the 80s the drawings crossed the line, and the plot lines started to go down as well (not saying the plots had much substance to begin with, but still...) I haven't ventured into modern comics for those reasons.
I don't really like DC Comics
My mom has a box of old (like 1950's) DC comics, and they were rather unrelated to anything in DC today. "Warlord" was one; pretty interesting, though the women were *cough* hardly clothed properly.
Oh okay :). I stuck to Superman, Batman and Robin, Justice League, Green Lantern, Legion of Super-Heros, and some lesser known guys, with Superman and Batman being the ones I read most. I can't really remember anything bad in the older comics, so it might just be I stuck to the benign characters.
On a side note, WWII era Superman is an interesting read. Every comic dealt with Nazi Germany and the war (the creators of Superman were two Jewish teenagers). One line from Superman to some gangsters shooting him: "Why waste those bullets on me when you could be using them to exterminate the fascists?"
The adds were along the lines of Superman riding a bomb while talking about buying war bonds. One feature that ran was something like "How would Superman end the war?" and had him running around grabbing world leaders and destroying artillery.
Interesting stuff.

Legion of Super-Heros
D:<
MY EYES!
You read "Superman, Red Son"?
No. I vaguely remember seeing it and deciding that it wasn't worth my time or anger :P. Remember, I haven't bothered with any comics that came after the mid-1980s.
As for the League of Superheros, I probably read that one the least of the comics I named. I mentioned it because I liked how silly it was, ha. The books of it my library had were from when it was very early on in the 60s. The number of ridiculous superpowers they came up with was stunning. One redshirt superhero that died within two pages of being introduced was able to turn himself into a wall...and that's it. Another was Ferro Lad, who was a bit more prominent and saved the universe, but his specialty was being made of iron. Just odd stuff like that appealed to me.
I've no doubt the League has gotten weirder with age, I just haven't bothered to figure out how.
Turning into a wall? That's probably one of the lamest superpowers I've ever heard, that and being able to untoast toast ;D What do you think the worst superhero Marvel created is? They make good superheroes, just some of them really aren't good.

Basically Superman became the communist dictator of pretty much the world. :P Then he saved the world by flying Braniac's (bad guy) ship into space where it exploded.

Oh, there's quite a few. One that comes to mind who made a very short appearance in an early X-Man comic was a boy who ate metal. That's it.
I refuse to entertain thoughts of a communist Superman :P.
And I know Brainiac, he's been around awhile.
Well, he thought that what he was doing was helpful to the world, but he was more of "putting the world in a bottle".
Also, being a close friend of Stalin had its affect on him. :P

I think superheros are an interesting case of maybe-sexism. On one hand, females tend to be drawn somewhat... immodestly... But on the other hand, males often wear tight things too, which provides some measure of equality. The other thing is, though, I wouldn't say that superhero(ine)-ness is really objectification, because what powers do these 'objectified' characters have? Super ones, they're more powerful than normal people. Usually they're there to do more than look pretty.

My opinion on this matter. I don't like superheroes. Except if they save my life.
I've only ever read three comics which were Infinity War, Age of Ultron and DC's Batman: Death of the Family. I really want to read more but it's a hard thing to get into. I'm thinking of asking for Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe (The whole series). Marvel doesn't really have a convenient place to start, DC has the New 52 which helps

Which is kind of why I tend to like Marvel more. Most, not all, wear relatively realistic attire for what they do: Iron Man's armor is in no way revealing to his actual body, and it's protective. Hulk wears no shirt, and it's not really a problem. Captain America is borderline because his suit is semi-skin-tight, but not all that unbelievable. However, there are many Mavel characters that just need some padding on their bodies for our sake. :P
And I really don't understand DC liking their heroes to wear underwear on the outside of their one-piece. :P
Oh, that reminds me of a joke: Chuck Norris and Superman had a fight once. The loser had to wear their underwear on the outside of their pants.

I'm looking forward to the Black Panther, I'm just hoping it doesn't involve magic and has more of a technological side of it.
As far as the issue of modesty goes, I suspect you'd have to go back to the 50s and early 60s to get comics (except of course for characters like Wonder Woman, who were always portrayed that way) that show women in at least relatively modest clothing.
I don't know anything about Marvel, but the DC of that time could still be decent about it. Now, my knowledge mostly extends to Superman & friends, but here it is: the original Supergirl wore basically the same thing as Superman, except with a short/mid-length skirt instead of the pants. Also, the Legion of Superheroes' first female characters were very modestly garbed; Saturn Girl and Phantom Girl's outfits completely covered them from neck to feet (an unheard of concept today, I know). Triplicate Girl and Shrinking Violet's skirts weren't so short as to be exactly immodest, either. Maybe in real life, but in a comic book they looked okay.
That didn't last very long, though; before long, there were underwear-clad heroines like Light Lass and Princess Projectra, and it was pretty much downhill from there. A Legion fan site I used to frequent didn't even consider Legion stories after a certain issue canon, and that seemed to pretty accurately coincide with the time when DC went completely off the deep end. By the mid-70s, you'd be hard pressed to find a female super-powered character who wasn't dressed like they were on the beach.
I'd like to see a superhero comic that has Golden or Silver-Age comic aesthetics -- squeaky clean -- but if it ever happens, it'll be made by a single author; maybe a webcomic. I don't know of any comic book printing company that does that style any more.
Okay so I saw Age of Ultron today. Best MARVEL film yet.
The Vision was so well handled, the perfect Yang to Ultron's Yin. And while I was not expecting to like that Tony made Ultron, that aspect was actually handled well. Ultron is hilarious though, he's got this sick, sadistic, twisted humour which I love. I wasn't a fan of Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver but out of the two I definitely preferred Witch. And that end credit scene, just that scene
"Well then, I guess I'll have to do it myself"~Someone
Also, liked the chemistry between the characters. Not a fan of Natasha and Bruce being a thing but Hawkeye was given some much needed depth. Thor's spirit quest was a bit weird but I guess they needed some way to bring the main plot of the series to the attention of the Avengers.
What I want to know is where the Time and Soul gems are. In case you didn't know
Tesseract-Space gem-In the possession of Asgard and Loki
Aether-Reality gem-In possession of the Collector, possibly lost
Purple stone in GotG-Power gem-In possession of the Nova corps
Loki's staff-Mind gem-In possession of a character from Age of Ultron
Ultron's intro was a bit rushed but it's only a short movie, there's not a lot of time. Just gonna tell you, his first scene made my blood boil (I mean before he gets physical form)
I want Nova in the next GotG film. Rich Rider or Sam Alexander, I don't care which, just give me Nova.
Also, Adam Warlock. If he isn't in the MCU I don't know what I'll do
It doesn't come out here for nearly another week!! It's online already, but I'm waiting to see it opening night in theatres. So excited! It's been a long wait, but what's 5 more days?
For the most part I like marvel better than DC but there are some DC heroes I like. For instance batman, green arrow, and flash. I don't really care for wonder woman and super man is alright. I do like the cartoon called "Young Justice" I thought it was pretty good.
Young Justice is my favourite TV show of all time

I think there might be, that cliffhanger at the end NEEDS a resolution and there was recently a crossover with Teen Titans Go and while I kinda hate Teen Titans Go, this might be a sign that Young Justice is coming back. However, if the characters don't have the same voices then I don't think it'll be as great
According to Wikipedia, the series Young Justice is over.
Yeah, it finished a long time ago however recently (as in last year) Teen Titans Go had a crossover episode with Young Justice. Why would they do that if it wasn't coming back?
Age of Ultron is out in the States! I just got back from the premiere.
I wouldn't call this my favourite movie of the MCU by any means, but it was definitely good. Maybe there are some elements to the storyline that were more than a little bit ridiculous, but the action scenes were fantastic. The humour was a hit or miss, and the depth they gave the main characters made for some of the best parts of the film. It's exciting to finally have a new movie in the Avengers sequence.
REMEMBER EVERYONE: I haven't seen it yet, so please, use the spoiler plug in.

Loved it, however. (Did you see the dog? Oh my gosh the dog!) The interaction between all the characters was really cool, and the music was inspiring, as always. Ridiculous=A bit too far
I mean really
A floating city? And they got everyone off before blowing it up?
In regards to the music, I loved the eerie version of
Pinocchio's "I've Got No Strings." In addition, the usual Avengers action music was powerful and perfect for the film.

Really? Really? NOBODY IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE ACTUALLY DIES UNLESS IT'S IMPERATIVE TO THE PLOT/EARLY ENOUGH IN THE MOVIE AND YOU THINK THE PLOTS ARE REALISTIC?
Not flaming, just emphatic and too lazy to use italics.
WARNING: Possible spoilers for Big Hero 6 and Captain America: The First Avenger. If you haven't seen them by now, shame on you, and shame on your cow.
*rolls eyes*
Honey, if a floaty city bothers you, science fiction/ fantasy are not a good genres for you. And OF COURSE they got everyone off. History shows that no one in the Marvel universe has actually died, except MAYBE Tadashi from Big Hero 6. The jury's still out on that one. Oh, and Doctor Erskine, but his death was important to the plot. Which, I suppose, justifies Tadashi's death too...
Floating cities that explode make for interesting plot devices. Not necessarily plausible at all, but interesting. Bet you didn't expect a floaty city until it happened.
Wait, Big Hero 6 is Marvel?
Yup. The movie was based on a comic in which Baymax happens to have a vastly different physical appearance.
I know some people don't pick up on sarcasm, but I'd thought the winky face would've taken care of that.
Anyway, the deaths that occur in the MCU are important to the plot. Erskine, *Bucky,* *Coulson,* etc.

A floating city just about takes the cake on the ridiculous meter. I found it more of an annoyance than a riveting part of the overall plot.
The Winter Soldier
Plotlines that include saving the world with literally 1 second to go, while predictable, are still exciting. Helocarriers able to kill millions of people at once, while a ridiculously powerful weapon for Hydra to control, still made for an interesting storyline. It was the themes of freedom and fear, freedom's victory, and the film's not-so-subtle nod to modern society that was most enjoyable.

I saw Avengers today. It was awesome.
WARNING: Age of Ultron
I thought Hawkeye was a goner. Didn't see that coming. ;)
Who knew Hawkeye had kids?
Hawkeye is awesome. Cap and him are awesome.
I think the Rominoff/Banner thing could be better as Rominoff/Cap, but this works.
Age of Ultron
Hawkeye's story surprised me. I think I'd heard a spoiler somewhere that we were going to find out more about him in this film (thanks Moviepilot), but it wasn't some dark secret like I figured it would likely be. I loved the addition of his family, and I liked learning more about him and the others who don't have their own films.
Banner almost got to go full nerd in some scenes, and I was glad of the larger role he played. Ironman was still so strong a presence in the film (as he needed to be for this particular story), and I dislike him more and more as the universe continues.
The Avengers (2012) introduced the concept that Barton and Nat are close friends and go way back. I'd like to see that brought up more in the films.
To the Steve/Natasha idea: I disagree with Soren. Nat is not at all like Peggy, and while trustworthy, she is too morally ambiguous for Steve, and Steve is too straightforward and open for her. I like the friendship they developed in The Winter Soldier.
The Nat/Banner thing surprised me. It showed a softer side of Nat that I like. I appreciated the flirtation between them in the beginning, but the jokes regarding their relationship were sometimes distasteful.

My thoughts
Iron Man is central because he is the main comic relief, and the money provider, and the technician (though he and Banner share that role). I like the character of Tony Stark, becuase he's dynamic. Unlike Cap.
ß
"And Steve watch your gosh darn language!"
"You're never going to let that go are you?"
Spoiler
I simply hate Captain America. He's too perfect. Just because he's Captain America doesn't mean he has to be amazing and perfect at everything.

Spoiler
The fact that he's American doesn't matter to me. I like him best because he has the morality and courage that Stark doesn't have, yet he's still cool. Thor does have that, but I don't like Asgard. (Or the whole goldy-locks thing he has).
WARNING, Age of Ultron
One of my favorite quotes:
Hawkeye:
"The city is flying, and there's a robot army out there, and I have a bow and arrow. This makes no sense"
@Soren
That was just such a perfect quote. That is kind how I feel when people start talking about their new gone, and I just restrung my old recurve bow. :D
Age of Ultron
The lines that made me laugh the hardest:
Ironman: "Guys, lets talk about this."
*shoots everyone*
Ironman: "That was a good talk!"
Injured Guard: "No it wasn't!"
Natasha: "Thor, report on the Hulk."
Thor: "The gates of hell are filled with the screams of his victims!"
Fury (about Ultron): "The guy's multiplying faster than a Catholic rabbit."
Someone somewhere was probably offended by that, but it's a clever and hilarious observation.
Hidden
Cap is my favourite Avenger because he stands for the things I believe in: honesty, loyalty, humility, and morality. It's important to remember that he was created to increase patriotism and support for American troops during the Second World War, so naturally, he was designed to be "perfect." He has flaws, but he is also used by the MCU as the antithesis of the arrogant and sly though inherently good Tony Stark, and the increasing discord between them will come to a climax in a year with Captain America: Civil War. One of my favourite characters from the MCU is Howard Stark, who falls in between Steve and Tony.

No. The TAHITI program brought him back.

Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Finale
I refuse to belive Simmons is actually dead. She can't be! She's too important to the show! Maybe that rock has her incased or something.
And I totally saw Riana dying comeing.
Who else is mad Coulson doesn't have a left hand?
I'm glad Gonzalez is dead.
Ward just needs to die already.

So, I saw Age of Ultron again today, and there's something that I still can't understand
Age of Ultron
Why did Quicksilver die? When they were in Wakanda (however you spell it, it was with that one guy. I don't know his name, but Ultron cut off his arm), Quicksilver dodged the bullet he fired and put it back on the desk. Or at least, they made it look like he did. When Hawkeye fired the bullet past him, he was able to watch it go through the air. But when Quicksilver saves Hawkeye, couldn't he have just moved all the bullets out of the way? For some reason, that really bugs me.
First off,
Spoiler
When he put the bullets on the desk he had actually taken them from the gun. Not from midair. :P
what?
Wait, how do you know that? Because the guy fired the gun, and then Quicksilver put a bullet on the desk. It looked like he took it from midair. Did the guy just have a bad aim? And how did Quicksilver get the bullets from the gun while or before it was shot?
Spoiler
Didn't you see the row of bullets?
Spoiler
Well, yeah, but I don't see how that changes things...
Spoiler
I don't see how people don't understand this. Quicksilver couldn't dodge the bullets because he was running into their path. He intended to die. And yes he took the bullets from the gun, not the air.
Spoiler
Hawkeye was behind the car, right? Be cause if Quicksilver had just sheilded them w/ his body, the minigun rounds are shot so hard and quick that, by right, they shoulda gone right through him. And they did.
Quote from: Eulaliaaa! on June 05, 2015, 02:53:37 AM
Spoiler
Well, yeah, but I don't see how that changes things...
Spoiler
What Sage is saying is that Quicksilver removed all the bullets from the gun, then placed them into a row on the table. The one that was spinning was just because it was the last removed bullet to be set down.
Spoiler
I DON'T GET IT!
@Jet: why would he intend to die? And yes he was running in front of Hawkeye to block the bullets, but he's so fast couldn't he just move them around so they would miss both him and Hawkeye?
@Sage: so they went through him and into the car that was also shielding Hawkeye? Then why did Quicksilver jump in the way? Wouldn't the car alone have saved Hawkeye?
@Soren: Then why did the guy try to shoot the gun if it was empty? Or did Quicksilver remove the bullets as he was shooting?
Quote from: Eulaliaaa! on June 06, 2015, 12:08:06 AM

@Soren: Then why did the guy try to shoot the gun if it was empty? Or did Quicksilver remove the bullets as he was shooting?
Spoiler
No he couldn't. There are limits to his abilities. No one could move all of the bullets being fired from a minigun.
Well, whatever. :P
Spoiler
Have you seen X-men days of future past? In that, Quicksilver was able to run around a room, poke someone in the face, and then move all the bullets being fired so that they didn't hit anyone. I know, different movie, but they're both Quicksilver, so shouldn't their abilities be the same?
I've been following this exchange with interest, and Eul has made many good points. It'd do me a lot of good to watch the film again, paying particular attention to the scenes mentioned; I'm sure I'd get a lot more out of it than the initial watch.
Why thank you ;D I'm just trying to figure things out.
I've no idea anymore. I never say any XMen, so maybe that's why. :P
Me neither, but one last thing:
Spoiler
maybe he was just aiming to save Hawkeye and didn't have time to think about moving bullets OR EVEN moving Hawkeye and the kid out of the way! He definitely could've outrun the bullets, I know that. So he was probably just not thinking. I'm going to blame Hulk for throwing Ultron to a place where he could find a jet (seriously, where'd he get it?) And being late to throw Ultron out of the jet. Darn it Hulk, it's your fault! But if Quicksilver hadn't died, we wouldn't have been able to see Scarlet Witch rip Ultron's heart out. :P
Spoiler
I'm pretty sure they just wanted to kill Quicksilver off as quickly as possible because of his prominent role in the X-Men films.
That would make sense...
Ant Man is a pretty fun movie 8)
Really? I heard it got bad reviews...
I haven't heard anything about it yet. :P Thought it just came out today.
It did. I really want to see it, maybe tomorrow.
I didn't know today was the first day; my mom just wanted to a see a movie and it happened to be on :P But yes, I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm seeing it tomorrow along with Mr. Holmes, so I'm pretty pumped.
Okay, so as most of us probably know, MARVEL has got back the rights to Spider-man and he's going to appear in Captain America 3: Civil War. I've heard a few names tossed around for an actor to play him but the only one I remember is Logan Lerman. Personally I like Logan Lerman. I'm not a huge film afficionado, I basically only watch superhero movies and fantasy/sci-fi movies so I only know him from the Percy Jackson films. Granted that's not the best place to know an actor from but I really think he tries his best in those films, the utter awfulness of them is not his fault, I think he's probably the best part. I've heard from other sources that he's a good actor and I agree. He's probably my number 1 pick for Spider-Man so I'm good with that idea.
What do you guys think? If you don't like it, is there anyone else you think could do a better job as Spider-Man?
Also, do any of you have an idea of who you want the villain of MARVEL's first Spider-Man movie to be?
Also, I feel bad for Andrew Garfield. Like Logan as Percy, I think he tried his best to make TASM at least a little less bad and I really like him. Hopefully TASM hasn't ruined his career.
Unrelated to that, if you guys could make a MARVEL/DC crossover with only two hero's franchises, who would it be? I haven't decided on mine yet but I think it would be interesting to hear your ideas.
I hadn't heard. That's pretty cool, I wonder who's side Spiderman will be on (aren't Captain America and Ironman supposed to be fighting, then it comes to a halt when Thanos comes (or... something like that)?). The only thing I worry about is how they're gonna fit all those characters into Avengers Infinity War.
Thanos has nothing to do with it, he's in the far flung future.
Tony and Steve are fighting over a government act that requires all superheroes to register their identities with the government, Tony agrees, Cap doesn't. In the comics Tony manages to convince Peter to join his side, Peter unmasks, his life becomes hell. Lots of people die. That's basically it.
Somehow, I doubt the film will be that bad.
Huh, I didn't know that. Looking forward to it anyway, I know it'll probably be good. Heh, MARVEL made Ant-man look cool, I'll bet they could even pull off a Squirrel Girl movie (ok, well, that's an exaggeration, but still...) :P
"Squirrel Girl"? Do I want to know? :P
Probably not ;D
She's the only character who has defeated Thanos and Doctor Doom singlehandedly. She's a cute, less adult Deadpool.
O.O
Wow. Well, she might not make a good movie, but dang she sounds powerful as all get out. :P
She throws squirrels at people.
-_-
You should play as her in the MARVEL Lego game (if you have it). It's hilarious ;D
Doctor Doom. Defeated by squirrels thrown at him.
She can mind control them too.
Anyway, anyone got any thoughts on the Spider-Man thing?
Oh and did anyone know how powerful Doctor Doom was? He's immortal and has literally travelled to Hell to rescue his mother. And he's mastered science and magic and according to the Panther Spirit of Wakanda, he is the only hope for a future free of suffering. Oh, and he killed a lion with a single punch.
His armor has also removed him from the physical world, is basically the same composition as Iron Man's (just as an example of physical strength), it has all sorts of energy protection, and has been able to withstand a direct hit from Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet.
Yeah. He also killed a lion with a bare fist in one punch.
Anyway, Spider-Man thing?
MARVEL/DC crossover thing?
I'm glad Spiderman is back in the hands of MARVEL. :P Is that why the franchise was redone?
They've already announced who'll be playing spoderman. It's a pretty small-time actor though.

What I've heard is that they will still be fighting over AI and what Tony wants to do with it. Everyone seems to fine with them knowing their identities, so that wouldn't cause to much trouble. Plus, Hydra may have something to do with it as they always do.

Joking. The creator loves marvel.
Well, that makes it even better. ;D
Have any of you guys seen the new Fantastic Four movie? I'm planning on seeing it tomorrow, wondering what I should expect from it. It looks good, but Marvel has been making so many movies that I doubt all of them can be good. If I were them, I'd slow down a bit.
I'm gonna watch them with my dad.
Cool.
I've heard really bad things about this new one.
Marvel didn't make it, Fox did. They bought the rights seven years back and made two mediocre F4 movies. They would lose the rights for the franchise of they didn't use it, so they threw together a movie. I haven't seen it but would like to just to see if it is like people say it is.
And I'm paying money to go see it? ;D
It wasn't worth the money I paid. Seriously, don't waste your time. It's not even remotely good.
I'm too curious not to go. Maybe it'll be funny how bad it is.
I saw Fantastic 4 last week. I didn't particularly want to, but I had a friend who was adamant about seeing it. So that happened.
Rise of the Silver Surfer came out during my middle school years, and I remember sitting through the irritating bantering (half of the jokes going right over my preteen head) and disappointing action sequences. My hopes for this film weren't high.
My brief thoughts on the recent film
The latest Reed Richards is about the most gormless character ever created. I could neither sympathize nor empathize with him, but he didn't inspire enough emotion in me for me to hate him, either.
10/10 on the anti-climatic scale. After the fight against Victor von Doom, I was left waiting for the epic superhero battle. Then I realized... that had been it.
I might try to figure out what happened (because I don't really know how that 5-minute fight scene sans character communication ended with the disappearance of von Doom), but I don't care enough to try. It's pretty bad when a theatre-goer is sitting in the audience thinking: "I will never watch this film again."
If the final scene felt as though it had been intended to be iconic.
It was not.
And then I look at IMDb and see that the film has a 3.9 rating, making this the lowest rated film I've ever seen.
The best part of seeing this film was the experience. The film was in English, but I picked up on some more Turkish vocabulary by following the subtitles. There is also a 10-minute intermission during films in Turkey, and if one thinks that the placement of this intermission would be timed with the sequence of the film or planned in any way, one would be wrong. Picture a semi-climactic moment, music in the background, characters walking slowly, triumphantly toward the camera, a character delivering a line that is either going to be motivational or comedic -- and the screen goes black and cuts to a chewing gum commercial. This is what happened. After 10 minutes, the commercials cut out, and the film picks up right where it left off. The Turkish theatre-goers sit in the dark wondering why the English-speakers in the center aisle are laughing uproariously.

Wait, Big Hero 6 is Marvel?
There are so many MARVEL references/ripoffs in that movie you don't begin to understand them.
That's because BH6 was a MARVEL comic. ::)
Consider yourself sinned. (not the religous sinned. The other one.)

Finally saw Age of Ultron. . .
Spoiler
Ultron's personality was hilarious; at first I was pretty sure Robert Downey Jr. played his voice (which would have been interesting), and all his little quips really made him interesting.
"Oh for gosh sake!"
*Hulk throws him out of the jet.*
There were a lot of other memorable quotes in that movie.
*Iron Man is punching Hulk.* Gotosleepgotosleepgotosleepgotosleep. . .
"If you set the hammer down in an elevator. . ."
"-The elevator will lift it up!"
"But the elevator isn't worthy."
Vision: "It's terribly unbalanced."
Thor: "Well, yes; otherwise you lose momentum on the swing."
I like how Vision was portrayed and made, but it seemed a bit like they were trying to put in a lot more characters at one time than anything before.
Also, Ultron had used adamantium, not vibranium, as a body armor before, but I think they did that to hint at the Black Panther movie they have planned.
Spoiler
Yeah, I gotta agree with you on that. But, creative license. :/
MARVEL Studios doesn't have the rights to use adamantium, because it's part of the X-Men universe.
I see.
... Why did I put a comma there?
Thoughts on Antman? I personally thought it was pretty good, but a lot of people disagree with me. It kinda reminded me of how they did Space Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy, almost like Marvel is doing things just because, well lets face it. They can.
Or maybe even using the movie to test how people react to certain things so that they can improve for their next Avenger movie.
Still it was a good movie and pretty funny. Louise is hilarious, he better show up in another Marvel movie!
I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard mixed reviews.
One thing about the amount of movies they're making: My brother said it has to do with some contract they got themselves into; they have to make a certain amount of movies or something. Not sure how true it is but there you go.
Well, while I do agree that Ant-Man was a genuinely fun movie on its own, it should be noted that the most prominent reasons I've seen for people disliking it have less to do with its overall quality and more with the (really quite egregious) issue of how this movie writes Hank Pym's wife (AKA, the Wasp) out of the story.
First because it's simply yet another example of a story with a female character whose only real purpose in the plot is to die (or, in this case, get sucked into an inescapable quantum void forever) in order to motivate a male character. This isn't a universally abhorrent trope, but there's a lot of examples of this in the media already, and each one grates more than the last.
But mainly people didn't like this because of how it relates to the comics. In the original Avengers comics, the first founding members of the Avengers were Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Ant-Man, and, you guessed it, the Wasp. Beyond just being a founding member, the Wasp actually led the group for a time, and she was even the one who came up with the name "The Avengers." I'm actually not a huge comics reader (I mostly know all this stuff from second-hand sources), but from what I understand she was one of the more interesting and well-written characters in the Avengers lineup through the years.
And in this movie she gets unceremoniously written out of the plot as part of here male counterpart's backstory, plus now she's the only founding member of the Avengers to not have her own movie in the MCU. As much fun as I had with Ant-Man, I do have to admit that all of that is pretty awful.
I agree Soran, however you have to remember that they are clearly not following the original storyline. They have shown that they don't need to follow the comics at all, and they really haven't.
I see what you mean Soran, but in the end credit scenes, Hank gave his daughter a suit him and Wasp were making, and I believe she might be playing Wasp in upcoming Marvel Movies.
But the issue here is not just that they made changes. Simply diverging from the source material's storyline is all well and good (in fact, I'm on record as being totally fine with adaptations making sweeping departures from the source material), but it's only if those changes don't make the story legitimately worse. What happens to the Wasp in the movie is pretty offensively worse.
Hopefully Hank's daughter gets her own movie as the Wasp at some point; that would go a long way towards making amends, I think. Even just giving her a prominent role as part of an ensemble would be better than nothing, though it would be preferable if she was the protagonist (the MCU really, desperately needs a female-led film; the first one may as well be the Wasp).
They're doing a Captain Marvel film in 2017. Captain Marvel is female. But I do agree that the Wasp should get her own movie.
I thought Marvel was an alien; Miss Marvel was the female. :P
Ask Kevin Feige.

I saw Ant-Man in Turkey, so that's got to be about a month ago now. It was humourous, because what other direction can they take it? but I can't say I liked it too much, and at this point I'm not overly excited for Scott Lang's re-appearance in Captain America: Civil War.
Sup. In regards to Captain Marvel, chances are they're gonna do the Kree Mar-vell. Who can, admittedly change gender. But he usually stays in a male form. Unless they do the current Captain Marvel. Who is a girl. Or even No-Varr (Mar-vell's son).
Something else disappointing with Antman was how there was barely any talk of the instability between Hank and Janet due to Hank's mental disorder. I don't remember there being ANY talk of his disability at all.
*Flies away*
Hey Mask! Anyway, not to change the subject completely, but Agents of Shield is back.
In case y'all need a AOU recap.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlS1BZ0ufUU
I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SEASON 3 COMES TO ENGLAND! I've been avoiding spoilers on Tumblr like crazy.
I'm very, very excited for Jessica Jones on Netflix and the new series of Daredevil. I have given up with Civil war. I know I'm going to die and have excepted that now.
I would be satisfied with seeing the first season. :P
I love me some SHIELD. I was so mad when
Only open if you've seen the end of season 2
Trip died.
I know right. I nearly cried at that part.
I just started watching Daredevil today. Honestly, I wasn't expecting very much from it, but it's actually really good. There aren't many movies or tv shows that make me... feel bad, I guess, for the villain, but the villains in this show act real and human. The characters in general act very human, in my opinion, but I'm usually kinda oblivious to social things like that, so it might be just me. And I love the fight scenes.
What are your thoughts on it?
I never finished Daredevil, it got too gory for me by the time Fisk became a big part of it. :P
It is really gory. A lot of blood. But that kind of stuff doesn't really bother me :P once I finish Daredevil, I'll start on Agents of Shield. That's on Netlix, right? (I should get sick more often so I can have time to do is :P)
I loved Daredevil as well. I it was so hard not feeling sorry for Fisk. But yeah it did get gory, which I enjoyed. But my mum refused to watch anymore of it so my sister, brother and I had to watch while she wasn't around. I'm wondering how we're gonna do that with the next series and Jessica Jones. Cus everybody's time tables have changed and my sister moved out. :-\

Seasons 1 and 2 are, season 3 is airing right now until probably the end of February, I imagine. With Agent Carter thrown in the middle.
Oh, I really need to buy the boxset of the first season of Agent Carter. I need to watch it!
I'm also avoiding Shield spoilers like mad on Tumblr.
I just finished season 1 of Agents of Shield... I love this show.

You need to watch Season 2, it gets better. ;)
It does, and season three looks good as well.
Double post I know but. The full length Jessica Jones trailer has been released and I'm going insane! SO EXCITED!!
I just finished watching Agents of Shield, season 2...
my thoughts
I couldn't help but smile when Ward accidentally shot agent 33. The way she died was brilliant and they were both jerks. they both needed to die (I'm still waiting for Ward to be killed or something.)
I also like the way Skye's mother died. I feel so bad for Kal, though. Poor guy, he didn't really deserve any of it.
And the thing with Janna at the end? WTH?! What? No! If she does survive and come back, I know she won't be the same. She'll be evil, or have mental problems like Fitz, or something. Nooooo!
You can watch Season 3 on watchabc.com, I believe.
Season 3
Jenna's fine, and last night episode showed how she's fallen in love with an astronaut who was sent through the portal before her. He found her there.
Oh cool, thanks. (Resisting the urge to click on the spoiler :P)
Also, I can't see the Jessica Jones trailer... my kindle won't let me, it's saying something about a restricted mode :-\ I'll try to find a different way to see it.
It won't let you watch it on YouTube? That sucks.
Do you guys know of a way to watch agents of shield season three without creating an account on some weird website. I think my family may have a Hulu account, but there's been some really bad commercials on there (witchcraft stuff that I don't want in my home). I tried looking it up on Google, but I don't want to make a new account on some website, and I want to avoid all those bad trailers and commercials. :-\
You don't have to make an account to use this (http://www.couchtuner.la/watch-agents-of-shield-online1/) site. It also doesn't have trailers.
I'm just waiting for season three to come to the tv but it is a frustrating wait.

So, I just saw Antman.
Holy bad stuff. That was so worth watching.
Yeah I liked it too. But everyone on Tumblr was being horrible about it. Saying they were only going for the end credit scene. Which was INCREDIBLE!!!! But I quite liked it. It was funny. But in a different way to that Guardians of the Galaxy was funny.
That end credit scene was very good; can't wait.
The humor was different in Antman than Guardians of the Galaxy, but they were both funny. Though, I think I enjoyed Antman better than GotG. (The concepts of the smaller-than-atoms part was so fascinating. It's amazing what people speculate, and the visuals for that was incredibly eerie.)
I probably prefer GotG, if nothing more than the soundtrack! But I just love Groot so much.
It's interesting to hear from people who enjoyed Antman. I didn't like it, and I'm not looking forward to his inclusion in Civil War.

This thread is for Marvel fans; both sides of the Civil War and fans of the TV series are welcome. Speaking of, here's a link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnv__ogkt0M) to the new trailer.
It was awesome, I posted my glee on the Roleplaying Wiki already. ;D
I am a big Marvel fan (for the most part). I cannot wait until Civil War comes out. I just hope that it does not end the way that it did in the comics...
I really hope so too.
Agents of shield season 3
I have so any things to say about this new season, especially the mid season finale.
First of all... Rosalind Price. First she was bad, then maybe good, then definitely bad, then most likely good... then dead :P I feel so bad for Coulsin!
Then that thing with Ward?! What the heck?! What?! Am I glad or mad that he's not actually dead? (Well actually he is, but that worm-like thing is controlling his body so he's actually sort of alive...) What I'm hoping they'll do with that, is have that parasite take over someone else and leave him alive but without any memory of what happened. Maybe so much memory loss that he doesn't remember betraying Shield and we get to see how they would all react.
@Poll: Team Captain America. Too many of my friends are Team Iron Man, and I just don't get it.
Why must you ask such impossible questions? Iron Man... funny and I like him the most. Captain America... from what I know, I agree with his argument (disagreeing with the whole signing your name and being monitored by the government or something). And Scarlet Witch is on his side. And Falcon. And Hawkeye. But from the trailer, I think Black Panther is on Iron Man's side. Aaaagh!
That's the whole reason it's such a compelling storyline: The characters you love have to make choices that you're kind of like "No! Why?!" Pretty good premise.
*Revive!*
Deadpool came out earlier this week. Anyone seen it yet, and would ya recommend?"
Haven't seen it, and I might not see it for a couple years now, but I do know how infamous Deadpool is for being. . . Inappropriate.
Mmm, definitely. Breaking the fourth wall tends to do that to you.
I don't plan on seeing it.

Have you seen the red-band trailers? If you liked them, you'll probably like the movie, if not, Deadpool is not the character for you. He is wildly "inappropriate," making constant sexual references and swears a
ton. And Ryan Reynolds has said that they won't be toning it down. Also a good portion of the trailer takes place in a strip club and I'm pretty sure there's a scene of Wade "being intimate" with his girlfriend.
"Hmm, I may go and see it with my brother.

Although that bit ^ is a bit worrying.
I'm sure it is absolutely hilarious, and when my brother and I are on our own we'll probably get it as a DVD and skip through a couple spots.
That's always an option, although I don't know how I'd get that DVD on my own.
Team Iron Man! Did you see the scene in the new trailer? THAT'S THE %$^&%^* BLEEDING EDGE SUIT, BRO.
This poll is no fair. I love both of them.
Side note, I'm going to see Deadpool this evening. ;D
The votes are tied!
Momentarily.
My roommate is a die-hard Iron Man fan, and I love Captain America. We trade merchandise from time to time (posters, pencils, puzzles, I didn't mean for those all to start with P).
I have a Captain America poster next to an Iron Man one in my room. The iron man one is 3D.
Oh and Deadpool was hilarious!
Argh, Iron Man has Black Panther, and I like him, but Cap has Cap and Hawkeye.
Ok fine. Team Cap.
I guess that's what makes it such a compelling story; neither side is completely wrong or correct, and all of them are good people trying to do what they think is right.
NOO! Team Cap must not win! #teamironman
Haha yes! Taking the lead! #teamcap
I only just realized that I have control of the poll. I'll put something else up eventually.
^^My thoughts on Marvel.
BTW...
Iron Man sucks. Go Cap!
Well then.
Hmmmm..... ok?
Go team Captain America! Scarlett Witch is on his side, I have to vote for him. (But Black Widow is on Iron Man's side.......)
Personally I want to see which side Thor takes. That could be interesting.
Also Spiderman is taking part so that promises to be amusing.
I'm not sure that Thor is gonna be in this movie. From what I know, he's busy with Ragnorok (which is a big deal in Norse mythology. It's basically the end of the world). But I could be wrong.
You're correct, Thor is not in it. Neither is Hulk.
Oh, right... I forgot about the Hulk :P
No Hulk?! I didn't even know that. Too bad; I like the Hulk. I didn't know about Black Widow, either, but I knew that Maria Hill is on Iron Man's side, which is understandable, but still a loss.
And the Black Panther.
I think that the biggest threat to Tony is Ant-Man, who's on Cap's side. He could do some damage to the Iron Man armor.... But Tony has the next Extremis stuff.... So he wins.
I love them both and am not on a team. They all just need to hug it out.
I don't even know what the Poll is referring to. ;D

Have you never seen a Marvel movie?
I've seen most of them...I think. But I wasn't aware of any teams.
Simplified, it's the entire plot of Avengers: Civil War. :D
Basically Captain America goes against Iron Man over some government issue (and from the trailer, because of Bucky too). The government wants to take control of the Avengers after what happened in Age of Ultron, but Captain America doesn't want to join them. Scarlett Witch, Antman, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, and Falcon are all on Captain America's side. Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and Black Panther are all on Iron Man's side. Spiderman is in it too, but I'm not sure what role he's taking.
In the comics he switches sides regularly, but his most prominent role is on Tony's side.

Let's be real though, IRL we'd all be team Iron Man.
EDIT: I'm going to see Deadpool tomorrow.
I think Iron Man is way cooler, but I'm still on Captain America's side beaches of what he's fighting for.
And I've heard Deadpool is a good movie, have fun :)
I'm not siding with Cap just because I like him and dislike Iron Man. I've always liked Cap because of what he stands for, and Civil War only strengthens that. IRL, I'd still side with Cap.
When his fights were destroying your city without any consequence of that falling on him? (That's what the movie is about, not the original plotline from the comics in which Iron Man is really quite stupid)
At the same time, would their fights be any less destructive if they were under government control? :P Of course, that means the government would be to blame and they would be the ones to fix it (with taxpayer dollars. . . ::)), but that isn't different to the repairing of previous battles.
I don't know about the cinematic universe, but from the little bit I do know about the civil war in the comics, it's true that there's no way the general public would be cool with Captain America's position, in real life. What's more, I'm not sure that he's actually in the right to hold those views.
It's one thing to see the Caped Crusader streak over the skies of Metropolis in the comic world, where everybody is used to him and knows what a great guy he is, but if that ever happened in real life, people would be terrified. Who knows who or what this guy is? ...and more to the point, who gave him the right to get into random people's business in the first place? Maybe a bystander can get by with stopping an obvious catastrophe (like a sinking ship), or mediating a peaceful solution between antagonists, but I think society has quite clearly drawn a line against letting just anybody who wants to dress up in creepy costumes and play at being a police officer (with all the physicality and force that job involves), which is what DC and Marvel superheroes most typically do. Wannabe superheroes would need the intelligence and observational skills of Batman or Superman just to not get in trouble. Almost as many Americans as not don't even trust the police, who are actually trained to do this work; how do you think they'd feel about vigilantes taking the law into their own hands?
And that's not even getting into the animosity people would feel about super-powered goons fighting it out with each other and wrecking cities, as, like the posters above have mentioned, they so often do. After one such big battle, I guarantee that 99% of the population would be A-OK with getting all of these 'freaks' under control as soon as possible, even if it meant curtailing a few people's 'civil liberties'.
I agree with comic Captain America's views in this matter, everyone has a right to privacy, but not movie Captain America's.

Avengers: Civil War is a comic book. Captain America: Civil War is the movie coming out in May that's based on the comic. It's not out yet either. ;D

Probably will be. The cinematic universe has had many discrepancies with the comic universes. Speaking of those universes, it could be just another alternate story that might not effect the rest of the films. (Peh.)
My brother hates Captain America and loves Iron Man. At this point I'm not sure why we're still related...
Disowning is an option.
The reason Tony is more popular than Steve is because he has a more interesting character. He's constantly engaged in moral dilemna, suffers from PTSD that influences everything he does and has a crippling alcoholism problem. He's fun and interesting, Cap isn't.
You're saying Tony suffers from PTSD and Steve doesn't? HE SERVED IN BLEEDING WORLD WAR TWO! WATCHED HIS BEST FRIEND FALL TO HIS DEATH! NEVER GOT TO BE WITH THE WOMAN HE LOVED! HAD TO MAKE A MASSIVE MAROL DECISION WHEN HE TOOK SHIELD DOWN WITH HYDRA! AND YOU'RE SAYING HE ISN'T INTERESTING?!? You can support and like Tony without shitting on another character.

That doesn't necessarily make him interesting. In
The Winter Soldier he's pretty much gotten over losing Peggy and seemed pretty cool with life. He wasn't going to any veteran/soldier help groups or anything. He was torn back apart by Bucky/WINTER SOLDIER but now it seems like they're gonna be good friends again. Cap's life always ends up good, while Tony isn't perfectly recovered. Cap doesn't really suffer from PTSD because he's constantly doing the things that cause it. (Serving with SHIELD or the Avengers)
I love Tony and yes, he is a very interesting character. However, Steve is a character that you have to look really closely at and read between the lines with. Did Tony go to a psychiatrist during his hard times? No, so Steve not going to soldier talk groups means nothing. Steve is is like Tony in which he covers up his scars and doesn't let anyone see how he's really feeling.I don't think he's completely over Peggy, I doubt he ever will be. And when it comes to Bucky, yeah they may be friends again, but it's never going to be same. The damage to both of them runs very deep.
Tony is interesting, and Steve is very admirable. Both very good things. (Using "interesting" as a deciding factor isn't a very solid idea. . . I mean, Hitler was interesting, but very much not good.)

Apparently a new announcement about Captain America being an agent for some terrorist organization. That's so stupid - they don't think anybody's going to believe it'll stay that way, do they? Like everything else in comics, it'll turn out to be a dream, or an alternate reality, or an imposter, or mind control.
It's obviously just an attention-getting stunt, anyway.
Hard poll, I picked S.H.E.I.L.D., but Spider-Man was a close second. I'm really surprised they switched to such a young Spider-Man in Civil War honestly... but, it was still a good movie.

Gah, Marvel is just being idiotic now, Saying Cap was a Nazi and Working for Hyrda the whole time. It's takes away literally everything he stands for, all of the hope and American Pride he brought to so many. This even contradicts what he did in earlier comics. He picked up Thor's Hammer, and it is said he could only do that because of his spirt and him being a worthy, and it's stated that a Nazi could never lift it. So help me this better get resolved or ever comic fan in the world will boycott Marvel, especially when DC just rebooted their series.

No they won't. They might boycott Captain America but that's about it. There are a lot of people who really couldn't care less about Cap, most notably most non-Americans.
I think what Marvel has done with Cap is ridiculous...and not to mention anti-American! It's totally against his nature and the purpose for the character's creation!

Nope, they said that he is the real Steve Rogers, not brainwashed or anything. Quite a shame, since the author stated that it is going to change everything with the Marvel Universe for a while. Bet he is getting death threats now.
Maybe he'll end up being a double-double agent or something. I mean, he can wield Mjolnir, which would suggest he's kind of pure in heart and mind...or something like that.

T'Challa > Everyone.
I'll vote for Falcon... no, Scarlett Witch... no, Winter Soldier... no, Antman.... no, Spiderman... no, Black Panther.... no, I just won't vote. :P
War machine. :P
I really Scarlet Witch, and I like Vision, too. I'm not sure if Vision is supposed to be as human as he comes across in the two latest films, but I enjoy him more because of his apparent ability to sympathize. I like Wanda because she's so easy to understand - a young woman who sometimes hates and fears her own power because of how it makes others see and turn away from her, but who tries to make herself stronger through controlling it? She's great. I know Cap said, "She's just a kid," but she's a young adult who makes up her own mind without losing her heart, and I admire her for it.
Here's my complaint about Falcon: I really liked him in Winter Soldier, because he helped Cap in several ways. He began as a casual, affable guy, and appeared to be the first friend (outside of SHIELD's employees and affiliates) Cap makes in the 21st century, but his work at the VA clinic proved that he has a deeper history and can empathize with Cap's post-war feelings. He broke out the awesome with his line, "I never said 'pilot'" and his entrance as Falcon, and since then, friendship and similar experiences have caused him to have Cap's back. In Civil War, however, his role seems to be demoted to that of comic relief. Not that he wasn't a great asset in Civil War, and not that many of his lines weren't funny from the start, but every character is given their own brand of humour, and his never seemed to rest in the latest film. It's not a problem with the character, just a problem with the writing. But his humour isn't the only thing in the MCU being taken up to eleven lately. ::)
I find it interesting that Captain America being a Hydra agent and thus a Nazi is being made a big deal because it's "anti-American." Tbh, the only reason I would have a problem with Cap being a Nazi is because he was invented by Jews to be their hero. I find it interesting that no one brought that up yet.
It's not that it's anti-American that does it for me, it's that it goes against what he's stood for and fought against for years. It doesn't matter what nationality he is or was, if he acted a certain way for so long, proved himself to be pure of heart, courageous, etc., it's completely out of character for him to suddenly change to a malicious faction.
@Skarzs and
@Jet the binturong I agree with Skarzs, he's never been a "patriot" to me, but more of a noble hero. Regardless of whatever nationality he's supposed to be.

Shush. Cap is right.
While Iron Man was being slightly close minded, it doesn't change the fact that Tony was right for the wrong reasons and that Cap was wrong for the right reasons. ;)
Nope. Iron Man was trying to kill someone who was brainwashed and forced to kill people, it wasn't Bucky's fault. Cap was just trying to do the right thing and keep his friend safe.
Exactly, like I said, Iron Man was doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. He was trying to get the right thing, justice, but he was doing it for vengeance, not to save lives or help people. Cap was helping his friend, but he was doing the wrong thing, he was doing that wrong thing for the right reasons, because he knew his friend didn't deserve to die, Bucky deserved a fair trial, but what Cap did was still wrong.
I don't think Bucky would have gotten a fair trial, too many people were trying to kill him. And part of it was about whether or not the government should have had more control, which I'm still on Cap's side for that.

that lawbreaking vigilante Cap right.
;_; you too?!
No. Cap was right. He saved his friend's life. Bucky was brainwashed and forced to hurt people, he didn't do it by choice. If Wot was brainwashed and forced to kill someone, I'd still have her back if people were trying to hunt her down and kill her.
And if this is about Cap not signing, well I agree with him too. If the Avengers had to wait for all 117 countries to approve of them going into a country that needs them, there probably wouldn't be a country left to save when they got there. Every second could count if they're trying to save as many lives as they can.
Something I noticed that kinda goes along with this. Tony wanted to sign and let the government control him, right? Well, that is what happened to Bucky. Hyrdra forced him to do things that if he was not brainwashed he would not want to do. So really, Steve is trying to save both Bucky and Tony from the same thing. He's seen it all before, what complete government control can do, so he had to rescue his friends from it.
Also, Bucky lost his left arm and Tony's left arm was hurting the hold movie, plus the song "Left Hand Free" played during the Spider-Man part. Pretty cool. ]
Yes but Tony knows what he's doing. Bucky was pretty much forced through the whole thing. Besides the fact that Iron Man would never let himself get brainwashed, he himself decided to sign it.

I voted Black Panther, but Bucky is a really close second. I don't understand why nobody likes him, he's awesome!
Besides, my third choice, Falcon, didn't get any votes either...
No I put that down as a statement because there's no argument.
Cap is good, right? Bucky is basically Cap 2.0 with a metal arm. It makes him cooler.

Just like last time, I cannot vote (unless I'm proving a point). Those are four of my favorites :P
Haven't seen the movie yet, so I have seen neither Falcon nor Scarlet Witch in action where they weren't just starting out.

New poll going up!
I'm flattered! ;D
Dang.
So, cross out the shield, the bow and arrows and the metal arm. Not sure what Panther's suit is like, other than that it's probably composed of a lot of vibranium and is higher tech than it looks, but it's probably not very useful for someone without his skill. Same goes for Falcon's wings. If you have the mech suit like Iron Man's, you can fly, so there goes the wings.
Assuming I'm worthy to wield Mjolnir, if I possess the power of Thor I'll be able to fly (more or less), have some control of weather and lightning, and possibly have some other buffs like strength and endurance.
Antman's suit is interesting because, while the science is interesting and has its uses (never mind the fact that Marvel dismisses more than a few holes to the theory), but it wouldn't be my choice.
So, it's either Mjolnir or Mech.
Aaand I'm gonna go Mech, because, while I may have all the buffs that Thor does, I will probably not be as durable as he is because I'm not an Asgardian. Provided it is the same as Iron Man, with the Mech I'd be able to fly, have very good protection, enhanced strength, endurance, durability, weaponry, etc.
It was either Mech or Falcon's wings, and since Falcon was on the wrong side I went with Mech. ;D
Definitely Falcon's wings. If that wasn't an option, I'd be choosing between Antman's suit and Mech.
. . . You have T'Challa as your profile pic. :P
I know, I know! And I'd choose the Black Panther suit right after those three! ;D He's cool, I'd just rather fly or shrink than have an indestructible suit.
That's where the mech would be useful; you have both flying and near indestructibility! ;D
But wings are so much cooler. You'd be stuck inside a metal suit when you fly if you chose Mech.

Coolness is a matter of opinion, and anyway that's
all you could do with wings.
Well, if you've seen Civil War, he did more than just fly with them. He used them as a shield, and I'm assuming Redwing would be a party of having the wings.
I voted for Falcon's wings. My runner-up choice would be Hawkeye's bow and arrows.

Oh, that movie looks so good. Definitely hope to see it. I've been trying to find time to watch any of the Defenders shows, so if you do end up watching it, tell how it is.
Also, Doctor Strange is probably going to be amazing.
Finally watching the second season of Daredevil.
I lost interest in Xmen years ago; they've already climaxed. Sorry I can't get pumped with you.
I'm going to see Doctor Strange this weekend with one of my sister's friends. My brother was supposed to be coming but he cancelled and is going to a party instead and my sister can't come cus she's out of the country. :P

Doesn't come out until the fourth over here. :P And I'm likely not going to be able to see it for months anyways.

So, new images of Thor: Ragnarok have been released (http://www.monkeysfightingrobots.com/thor-ragnarok-images).
I... don't even know what to say. It looks crazy weird.
I finally watched Deadpool this week. It was what I expected, so Deadpool stayed true to Deadpool, and while I like the character the movie itself was short and underwhelming. His roommate, the old blind woman, was great. Senior citizen goals.
Anyone watching Iron Fist? Two episodes in and totally in love. Netflix, you're doing it right.

It looks like they spoiled the entire plot of the movie scene by scene. But yes, it does look epic.

It's so weird to see Heimdall looking like a homeless jungle dweller. XD That dude is typically so solemn and dignified.
He was okay, but the Hulk was great. We'll finally find out where Thor and the Hulk were during Civil War.
Yeah, I'm super pumped to find out exactly how Bruce ended up as a space gladiator. I'm also wondering if some of Thor's superhumanness is gone now that Mjolnir is apparently destroyed (and of course, I wanna know how he'll get the hammer back). Also, I can't wait to see how Thor finds out Loki has been impersonating Odin for the last few years. And it would be cool if we could find out exactly what happened with Loki in TDW - how on earth did he survive? And replace Odin?
Agh, so many questionsssss. I can't stand the wait! I hope it's a good movie and that I can see it in the theater.
"YES! We know each other. He's a friend from work!"
Oh my gosh, that looks hilarious. Leave it to Marvel to try to make their movies more serious and fail miserably. ;D
It seems to take some of the story from Planet Hulk, an animated Marvel movie. It was pretty good, if any of you are interested.
I know, that was hilarious. ;D The director actually described the movie as a road-trip buddy film in which Chris Hemsworth would get a chance to show off his comedic skills, so, that explains a lot. XD I can't wait to see how Thor and Banner will play off each other.
Yeah, I heard about Planet Hulk, but I was unaware it had been made into an animated film.

Coolest thing about the new Black Panther teaser is that Bilbo and Gollum are in the first scene together. ;D
Nah, the car scene was the best.
I'm still wondering what on earth is going on. XD
It is a rather dense trailer. They're hitting you over the head with so much at once. I need to watch it a third time...
I did read an EW article-thing with a ton of info, though. Apparently the lady in the trailer with snow-white hair is T'Challa's mom, and the gal with the pair of hand blaster-things is his sister, Shuri.
Also, Lupita Nyong'o is playing Nakia, a member of the Dora Milaje, and according to Wikia and Wikipedia she's also T'Challa's love interest? I haven't yet found any other sites corroborating this, but it's probably true.
I'm still basking in the beauty that was Iron Fist and I just finished Daredevil season 2 (Only just saw it cus its a eighteen and my mum wouldn't let me watch then but now....I guess she's just given up on me  ) and my kjfhshjds jfsiu sepke! SO FREAKING GOOD! I cannot wait for Defenders!!!!

S-S-S-Spider-Man... It was too good, too good. That level of goodness shouldn't be allowed in theatres, nuh uh. Oh I loved it so much. So much. (Y'all need to see this movie).
Glad you liked it! It looks like an amazing movie.
Hopefully I'll be able to watch it online eventually, while censoring the one suggestive part my dad freaked out over. I already went and ruined like every plot twist for myself, though. :P
I'm seeing it on Tuesday. Can't wait!
I just read a theory speculating that Hela could turn out to be Loki's mother in Ragnarok. Of course, in the comics, she was sort of Loki's daughter (sort of, because he magically created her and it was complicated). But this theory actually makes a ton of sense for the MCU. Even in his Jotun form, Loki doesn't look like other Frost Giants, which could imply that his mother wasn't one. And if Hela turns out to be the MCU's version of Death, it would put an interesting spin on Thanos's interactions with Loki (assuming Thanos was aware of his parentage).
I dunno, I just thought this theory was super cool. Here's hoping they actually do it. It would make Loki's path in Ragnarok even more interesting if he suddenly discovered Hela was his mother.
Thanos would not like Loki even more, then.
Probably so.
By the way, it looks like we could be getting an an Infinity War trailer with the release of Ragnarok. I'm so excited for both movies!!! I just hope all my hopes aren't dashed...
I have hope. Marvel has been pretty good about their movies' quality so far.
Homecoming was fantastic! Easily the best Spider-Man film to date, and one of the best MCU films. At the moment it's between
Homecoming and GotG Vol. 2 for me.
The final confrontation scenes were absolute perfection.

Also I'm mad about the Iron Spider tease. Maybe we'll get Amadeus Cho in future and he'll don the suit. I prefer the original Iron Spider design though, and it would've looked awesome if they brought it to life. Ah well.
Also, I feel like the dude with the scar is going to become important.
Also the after-credits scene was the best troll of all time.
If I have one complaint about the film, it kinda felt like RDJ was phoning it in at the end there. He seemed very off and not very Tony. His gestures felt too... exaggerated? Direct? Idk, it's just a feeling I got.
It's because of Civil War. ;D

I do agree that the new Spider Man movie was, by far, the best Spidey movie I've seen. That's saying a lot, considering how I favored the Amazing Spider-Man series.
Even The Amazing Spider-Man 2? *Shudder*
There's literally one suggestive line. Predictably, it was Tony that said it, in the car at the beginning.
Jukka meant the stupid teenage girls playing a... different version of "Kiss, marry, kill."
I don't even know what that is. :P
"Kiss, marry, kill" is a game where someone lists a group of people and then the other person decides, out of that group, who they would kiss, who they would marry, and who they would kill.

THE DUDE WITH THE SCAR IS SCORPION. Jeez I'm stupid sometimes.
Does that mean there's a Sinister Six in the making? We've got Vulture, Scorpion and Shocker, and Scorpion's talking about some guys on the outside that want to kill Spider-Man. Toomes probably won't be part of it though, considering the end of Homecoming.

A direct quote is "F, marry, kill" (The letter F pronounced as "Ef")

Regarding the Sinister Six: Vulture's wing suit was destroyed, and I assume his lair full of the Chitauri tech was raided by SHIELD. He certainly doesn't have the resources after he breaks out (which would have to happen in order for there to be a Suici- er, Sinister Six.) This is all really speculation, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for there to be a raid on another gonverment transport to regain some material to build the Vulture suit. But I'm not sure Marvel is looking to take 1-2 movies to set it up, when there are other great Spider-Man villains (Like Green Goblin) who might end up being brought back (since the Toby Macguire movies are not part of the MCU as they were made before Iron Man IIRC). Just as long as they bring Dafoe back for that one. ;)
Anyway, just my two cents on the matter. (I didn't bother doing any research, so I might be misremembering some information.)

Ah. I thought there was a pun between "shippin'" and "lowkey".
I've been thinking about making this reply for a little bit, I figured there would be no harm in it. (There's also nowhere else to put it.)
There's been a lot of discussion in the MCU community (jokes or otherwise...) about Stucky (Steve and Bucky Barnes), and while I agree with most that the ship will never officially sail and Marvel will probably never do something like (not with leads, anyway) I do think it's cute and certainly funny to look at. However improbable it may be, it's still an interesting fantasy to indulge in.

Ya'll are weird.
Can't bros just be bros? Even in fandoms?
Can't men and women just be friends?
Yes, of course they can, but that won't stop people from shipping.
Same rules apply here.
Hey, I ship Stucky! ...As friends. Pretty much the same way I ship Romanogers.
I just think the whole slash fandom subculture is weird and out of control. (Actually, so is a lot of the general shipper element of fandom.) The Russos and Chris Evans have all said that Stucky wasn't what they were going for. Civil War went out of its way to set up Staron and make sure everyone knew that Steve and Bucky are platonic friends. Of course, that still didn't stop some rabid Stucky Tumblrites from hating on Sharon (and Emily VanCamp) because she got in the way of their nonexistent ship. (I'm rather upset about that. Like, how dare you insult an actress for something out of her control.)
I dunno. I guess I just think slash in general is kinda silly, 'cause 99% of the time these are canonically straight characters in canon relationships, and crazy fangirls decide to ship them with other guys just 'cause they think it's hawt.
Unfortunately, as Jet said. . .

I don't ship gay ships that aren't canon because it's "hawt" I shop them because the characters are soooo cute with each other. Or I ship them because I don't like another member of the ship or so on. Not all of us are crazy mindless fans who are text-speechers and have no respect at all for the author/movie/whatever.
Also gay ships are usually better.
I don't think shipping canonically straight characters with each other is any weirder than shipping opposite-sex or gay characters who canonically not attracted to each other. Personally, it all strikes me as rather strange, but... whatever floats your goat, I'm not gonna judge. :P
Slash fiction in general is indeed weird, but I find ships like Bucky/Natasha to have far less evidence and reasoning behind them than ships like Stucky. Even Wanda/Vision, which is canon, has yet to actually... attempt to build romantic chemistry? Likewise with Sharon and Steve.
This weird obsession with romance in media has become so bad that in some stories, creators just pair up any man and woman together that they find even if the pairings make absolutely no sense (*Cough*Throne of Glass*cough*). Creators seem to believe romantic fulfilment is the be all, end all of happiness, and that aggravates me.
And I mean, slash goes both ways. Gay characters are often paired with characters of the opposite sex.
Also I operate on a policy of all characters are bi until proven otherwise. More options that way.

I dunno. I guess I just think slash in general is kinda silly, 'cause 99% of the time these are canonically straight characters in canon relationships, and crazy fangirls decide to ship them with other guys just 'cause they think it's hawt.
Okay. Most of the time, though, from what I've noticed and read, girls gravitate towards shipping slash because the guys are hot and they just love the idea of them getting together. *shrug* Some guys are the same with femslash.

I agree that Staron could've been built up a lot better, but I think they're actually doing a good job with ScarletVision, what with all the little moments and longing looks they shared in
Civil War. They're really cute. I'm excited that
Infinity War is gonna have them finally get together.

Vision's pretty much alive, though, thanks to the Mind Stone.
Bucky/Nat is comics canon, and a few hints/easter eggs have possibly been dropped in the movies, depending on one's point of view. :P
Shipping is weird.
End of story!
I agree with Ash! ;D
I ship Sørenoff
Why? She has a voice like she is a heavy smoker. She has a rather ugly nose, and doesn't do anything. ;D
(I'm seriously asking why, though the latter stuff is true, I am merely being silly.)
Her voice is sultry. I don't think her nose is ugly. This is a family friendly forum ;)
I ship it. Not my hardest ship, but shipped nonetheless. ;D
(Did I say anything that wasn't family friendly? :-\)
Interesting.
In that case I ship Mauve.
"Ve"?
Steve.
Captain America? THE most overrated superhero that I know of! (Mainly because I am Team Ironman. ;D)
What? Die, foul beast!
Captain America is the best! He's patriotic, honorable, and an all-around good person. Also, he's good looking.
Good looking? I don't see it, but whatever.
And since Maudie you shipped yourself so unfaithfully I will make my ship known: Delitch. ;D
"Good-looking."

Dellitch/Dellanda just for clarification. ;D
Okay, then, I'm Team Jucky.

Apparently Rosie did. ;D
Oh, I didn't realize I could see the votes. :P
None of the above. :P
Looks like Maudie and I will have to fight over Steve. ;D
Scarlet Witch is all mine apparently. ;D
It looks like Pepper and Happy are going to be in Avengers 4! (https://www.instagram.com/p/BYHgj6_D2Qz/) Don't know about Infinity War, though.
EDIT: Also, Pepperony is confirmed to be engaged!
I watched Defenders in two days. Not a minute was wasted. I now need to go back and rewatch Iron Fist cus I love Danny so freaking much.

It was cheap at this theatre because they play stuff late.

Just saw Ragnarok. Fantastic film.
Was it? Awesome. Something to look forward to.
How good was the acting in Ragnarok?
A little bit spotty in places, but overall solid. Mark Ruffalo was the standout performance for me.
Just saw Thor: Ragnarok with Jukka. It was awesome. XD
Nice.
Yeah, it was a really fun movie! There were some things I didn't like, though. While a lot of it was legitimately hilarious, there were several times where it was
too humorous. There'd be an emotional and dramatic scene, but just when I'd be getting into the drama of the moment, the movie would suddenly seem to remember that it was supposed to be a "comedy" and there would suddenly be a silly quip to ruin the tension. It's kind of a bummer, since I would've loved to see more emotional brotherly stuff with Loki and Thor.
Spoilers
Also, I'm really upset that the Warriors Three died so quickly and lamely. Volstagg and Fandral especially deserved better! :( Also, where was Sif? I know that Jaimie Alexander has other projects to work on, but couldn't they have at least mentioned her? I guess the one good thing about her absence is that she isn't confirmed dead like her friends.
That and the sometimes-excessive comedy are my main problems with the movie. Otherwise, it was really good. Loki was as awesome as ever, Korg was hilarious, Heimdall kicked butt, and Valkyrie was a really fascinating character. (Still wish she and Loki had gotten together....)
Still shocked that Thor lost an eye, though! That was the last thing I expected, what with the leaked IW footage and all.
Also, I didn't think about this until I surfed the web later, but Loki definitely took the Tesseract after that one scene cut away. Gah, I can't wait for Infinity War!
^ That's looking like it's gonna be good.

Well I for one am 99% sure Steve is going to die, either in
Infinity War or
Avengers 4, which will basically be part 2 of Infinity War. It feels like they've been setting up his death since Winter Soldier, as that movie gave him two potential replacements, Sam and Bucky (both of whom have become Captain America after Steve died in the comics). And then there's the broken shield in
Age of Ultron, and Cap saying in
Civil War that he can't ignore it when bad things happen, he always has to fight.

Pick one. There's literally no reason to ship Loki and Valkyrie.
Yeah, having seen the movie, there was actually zero romantic tension in their relationship after all. The photo, however, looks like it's of one of those typical fight scenes between characters who supposedly hate each other but are secretly madly attracted. (Think Han and Leia at the beginning of ESB, only with sparring.) I've also wanted to see for a while what Loki would be like if he was in love with someone. So when that photo came out, I was excited at the prospect of Loki finally getting a love interest, and I still feel slightly let down by what actually happened. xD Thorkyrie is a pretty good ship too, though.

...I didn't actually notice that. Which makes me feel stupid, 'cause I do like them both.
Steve and Tony are both so dead and this trailer tells us that explicitly. Possibly Loki too. And while that's a little sad, I'm glad there are finally some proper stakes in these movies.
But who do you think will be the next Captain America? Bucky or Sam?
I'm curious how they're going to be keeping it going after that. I mean, they can't just stop making content or they will have less income. (Obviously.) The movies have been extremely successful.
I guess Bucky would be best because he couldn't continue on as "Winter Soldier", and Sam is already Falcon. They would probably end up having to learn to work together, through the loss of their mutual friend.
The old characters dying is precisely why they're introducing the new guard. Spidey, Strange, Scott, T'Challa, Marvel and others we've yet to see will take the reins of the franchise. And if the Fox deal goes through, they'll introduce X-Men and the Fantastic 4. There's no way these movies are ending any time soon. Personally I'm hoping that Doom will succeed Thanos as the next big bad. But Feige has said they won't introduce any Fox characters in Phase 4. So maybe Doom can be the big bad of Phase 5. Or maybe he'll last multiple phases like Thanos, but will be introduced after Phase 4.
Yeah I thought that too.
I went there. I dare to go where other men don't.

But who do you think will be the next Captain America? Bucky or Sam?
If Steve dies I will riot in the streets. It would be awful to kill him now, when he's finally making a new life for himself, brought back his best friend, and moved on from Peggy enough to get a new girlfriend. There's so much more of his story to be told.
I'll be saddened if Loki dies, but at the same time I'll be somewhat happy with it as long as he dies sacrificing himself for someone else (and actually dies this time, no cop-outs). Also, it would be cool if he actually apologized to Thor and everyone for everything that happened in the first Avengers movie. (I do subscribe to the theory that he was partly under the scepter's control.)
I wouldn't mind if Bucky, or Hawk-Eye died. Hopefully Bucky dies, but I doubt it.
Regardless of whether or not Steve dies, either Infinity War or Avengers 4 will be his last movie, since Chris Evans' contract is ending and he doesn't want to renew it.
So he's definitely going to die because they're not going to waste that opportunity. Also anyone as physically weak as Steve who tries to have a fistfight with Thanos is dead. Tony is a bit more up in the air, but the trailer pretty much tells us he's gonna die ("I hope they'll remember you" *Immediately cut to a shot of Tony*) so meh.
The Loki thing is merely an extrapolation of the clues - Thanos is forcing Thor to watch something - Loki being killed by the Black Order? Or maybe Heimdall if it's him who has the Soul Stone.

I had a theory that maybe Thanos is holding Thor as hostage, so to speak, in exchange for the Tesseract, which Loki has. Because it shows Thanos grabbing Thor's head and then cuts to Loki, who's standing in what looks like the same area where the dead Asgardians are on the ground and where he's holding the Tesseract up in the first trailer. So I wondered if Loki has to exchange the Tesseract for Thor. I dunno, just an idea.

What do you have against Bucky?
I hate his character more than I dislike all of the villains of the marvel shows that I've seen combined.
Mainly because his superpower is a metal arm...yay...if people shoot at my arm like idiots then I will be fine, but if they aim at any other area I will die.
I mean, he also has elite assassin's training and super-strength like Captain America, sooo...
And you dislike him because he has a lame superpower? I mean, if you're gonna dislike him at least dislike him for his personality instead of something that he had no control over...
I also dislike him for that. But that is my biggest gripe with him. I just dislike his entire essence. ;D
He's basically the character in a bad TV show that died, but then the writers thought of something for that character, so they randomly bring him back to life.
He is in the comics as well.

I agree with what Maudie said. He has super strength and stuff, and what you're saying could be said for Steve, then. Just got a thing for guys who'll jump in front of a bullet or whatever for someone, I guess. XD It doesn't hurt that Martin Freeman is already pretty adorable.
When I bought my ticket, the girl at the counter was like, "You can sit wherever you want." I assumed she meant they didn't have assigned seating. I proceeded to my theater and found that... no one else was there. But it was about 15 minutes before the scheduled time, so I figured people might still show up. Well, nobody did. So I ended up being the only person in that theater, which at first I was disappointed by (movies are always more fun to see with fellow fans), but it actually turned out to be awesome. During the previews, I was able to move around and pick the exact seat I wanted in the middle, and during the beginning I put my feet up on the seat in front to block out an annoyingly glaring exit sign. So, yeah, that was a pretty unique experience. XD

I love the

I just saw Black Panther and it was good.
Got my Infinity War ticket yesterday! It comes out on the 25th in New Zealand, and I'm so excited!!!
I'm seeing it in 3D on the 26th or 27th, I can't remember which. The funny thing is, I don't even want to go, I have to because my younger sister is going with her friends, and my youngest sister wanted to see it at the same time but the first sister wanted to be alone with her friends, and I am now my youngest sister's escort. ;D
Lol! ;D
But how could you not want to see it? It's a major event. All of the MCU has been building towards this moment, and some characters are absolutely gonna die.
I feel so lucky that I get to see it opening day (which is about three days before opening day in America)! XP
I would personally rather not see it on opening day, I would also rather see it with all of my family. Those are the main reasons.
Ah. Yeah, I'd rather be seeing it with my siblings, but I doubt that would happen were I back home. (My dad said the movies are beneath me and a waste of time. Which is complimentary, since he thinks I'm too smart to watch lame movies, but...)

One of my favorite pastimes is to watch Marvel movies and poke holes it them. ;D I would never watch them on my own, but if my sisters are watching them I loudly proclaim how such a thing is a bad idea. Much to their chagrin of course. ;D
Plot armor.
So I've been hearing some Infinity War news, so here is my prediction/wishful thinking for where the MCU could be going in the next few phases.
Also I've heard Spider-Man is going to be visiting London in his next movie and I only have one thing to say to that:
But for real I'm quite excited that this could be the gateway to bringing in MARVEL UK characters. I want to see how they handle Merlin and Captain Britain.
Anyway, here are my predictions. Be warned for massive spoilers for the comics Avengers Disassembled, House of M, Young Avengers (2005), Avengers: The Children's Crusade, Loki: Agent of Asgard, and Young Avengers (2013).
So a casting call for Infinity War went out for identical twin boys. There's only one pair of twin boys that matter to any of the characters in Infinity War: Thomas and William Maximoff, aka Tommy Shepherd and Billy Kaplan, aka Asgardian/Wiccan and Speed, the children of the Scarlet Witch and Vision.
So why is this important? Well it's put my mind on the Young Avengers path, and influenced who I think is going to die in Infinity War. Not much, but it's added one specific person to my list.
So why Young Avengers? Well we've already got Cassie Lang, albeit an eight year-old version, Tommy and Billy. Soon we'll have Captain Marvel, which is likely to introduce us to the Kree-Skrull war. Disney might soon have control of the Fox properties, including Kang the Conqueror. And there is literally no way that Captain America is leaving these last two Avengers films alive.
So my revised list for who's going to die is: Cap, Tony, Vision, Loki, and Hawkeye.
Why? Well, let's assume Young Avengers is the end goal here. What better way is there to kill off Hawkeye than in Infinity War? Then Kate Bishop can step up and take over the Hawkeye mantle in a future MCU film. As for Loki, this takes some explaining. So in the comics, Loki is killed and reincarnated as a kid version of himself. Kid Loki vows to become good, but adult Loki's spirit or something kills kid Loki's spirit and takes over his body. Since I already thought Loki was going to die, it would make perfect sense that they would go with this plotline.
Vision was always going to die, and with him out of the way, that sets up the original Young Avengers where the young Kang the Conqueror travels back in time to prevent himself from becoming a villain, happens across the Vision's back-up consciousness, and uses his failsafe program to form the Young Avengers.
So okay that gives us Wiccan, Speed, Kate Bishop, Iron Lad, the new Vision, kid Loki and Cassie Lang. What about Hulkling and Patriot?
Well for Hulkling, first we need to start with the understanding that he is the son of the kree Captain Marr-Vell and Princess Anelle of the skrull empire. But hang on a minute, if we're skipping Marr-Vell and going straight to Carol Danvers being Captain Marvel, then how can Hulkling possibly exist? Well imagine for a moment that the movie begins with the original kree Captain Marvel dying on Earth after (though we don't know it at the time) delivering his child to Mrs. Altman to keep him safe from the radical factions that merely wish to continue the kree-skrull war? Maybe Carol Danvers gets the powers later after witnessing the dead kree? Whatever, the exact details aren't important, all that matters is that Marr-Vell is there and Danvers gets the mantle of Captain Marvel from him.
That just leaves Patriot.
Well since it looks like Bucky is going to be the White Wolf, and not the next Captain America, then that means that Sam Wilson must be the one to take up the mantle. It would make perfect sense for him to go looking into the history of the mantle and find out about the original Captain America, Isaiah Bradley. For those not in the know about MARVEL lore, before the super soldier serum was perfected, they tested it on black soldiers. The only one who survived, and got the perfect serum, was Isaiah Bradley, who became the first Captain America. But after disobeying orders, Bradley was imprisoned. At some point he also suffered lasting brain damage. Enter Eli Bradley, Isaiah's incredibly bitter grandson. He resents Captain America for taking his grandfather's place, and he hates that no one believes the stories of the original black Captain America. This could be a game changer for Eli's story if the first Captain America he meets is not Steve Rogers, but Sam Wilson, another black Captain America.
But let's get back to the Wiccan and Speed situation. Obviously we can't do the whole "Scarlet Witch destroys the universe twice after failing to save her children from Hell" storyline this time around, as this Wanda is not on the same reality-warping level as comic Wanda. However, there is an easy way for Thomas and William Maximoff to become Tommy Shepherd and Billy Kaplan. A grief-stricken Wanda gives them up for adoption after Vision's death. Or they could get displaced into different bodies by the Soul Stone.
And let's just forget about America Chavez, Noh-Varr and Prodigy for the moment, they're not necessary to the formation of the team.
Obviously this can't happen in phase 4 because the characters would be waaaaaaay too young (again, Cassie's eight at the moment and her dad is still alive, she's not exactly Stature material). But if we have a bit of a time-skip between phase 4 and phase 5, this could easily set up a Young Avengers arc.
Is this mostly wishful thinking? Yes, but it's still plausible, especially because of that casting call for Billy and Tommy.
Any thoughts?
So I just saw Infinity War.
*screams into the abyss*
Lol.
I'm seeing it tomorrow...yay...
You don't sound excited.
@Jet Interesting. Can't say I'm as up to speed with it all, and as much as I don't want any characters to die, what you said made sense.

I would personally rather not see it on opening day, I would also rather see it with all of my family. Those are the main reasons.
Hopefully you like it! I really did, although I could have done without all the language and the irreverent reference to Jesus (someone asks "what master do you serve?" and the other character sarcastically responds with something like, "What am I supposed to say? Jesus?" I mean, I laughed at the time, but now I feel rather disgusted by that part). (Also, two unmarried characters are staying in the same hotel room, as seen in the trailer. Luckily, the scene set there is brief. :/)
By the way, there is an end-credits scene but no mid-credits one.
So I decided to rank the MCU films I've seen because I have a pathological obsession with ranking things. Anyway, here's my ranking:
14. Iron Man 2
13. Thor
12. The Avengers
11. Ant-Man
10. Doctor Strange
9. Age of Ultron
8. Guardians of the Galaxy
7. Guardians 2
6. Civil War
5. Iron Man
4. Infinity War
3. Ragnarok
2. Spider-Man Homecoming
1. Black Panther
Still need to see The First Avenger, Winter Soldier, Dark World, Iron Man 3 and The Incredible Hulk.
I know, unpopular opinion with the Avengers and Guardians movies.
I was waiting for this to pop up. :P
Mon dieu. I'm becoming predictable.
Anyway so I realised I haven't made a comment on my predictions yet.

Is this mostly wishful thinking? Yes, but it's still plausible, especially because of that casting call for Billy and Tommy.
Any thoughts?
Infinity War spoilers. Also contains thoughts on Ant-Man and the Wasp
Kid Loki is a possibility. Clint Barton seems to have retired so there's room for Kate Bishop to take up the Hawkeye mantle there. It would be more impactful if he died though. Billy and Tommy didn't show up in this film, so that must be an Avengers 4 thing. Or it's fake news. The latter would SUCK. I'm just saying that the Time Stone, Reality Stone, Mind Stone and/or Soul Stone could contribute to their existence. Eli Bradley and Cassie Lang were never an issue. Apparently Captain Marvel is set in the nineties so there's adequate time for Teddy to grow up there. And Vision's out of the way so there's room for the Kang storyline there.
And if I'm wrong that's fine. I don't need these characters to be in the MCU. If MARVEL would just give me a cartoon series for the Young Avengers then that would be 100% fine with me. Although if it's a cartoon it might be expected to be "for kids" and then they might shy away from Billy and Teddy's relationship and that would literally destroy the Young Avengers. Wickling is the backbone of so many of their story arcs. Wiccan is basically the main character of the Young Avengers.
Also Ant-Man and the Wasp. Who else thinks it's going to end with two of the main characters (i.e. Scott, Hope and Hank) crumbling to dust? I'm putting my money on Hope surviving the gauntlet and the other two "dying." Although that would mean that Scott survived Avengers 4 and thus there's fewer stakes for Cassie Lang to take on her father's mantle. So... idk. They can really kill him off at any time, it just makes sense to do it in the next Avengers. It would be pretty cool if Hank crumbles to dust in front of Hope while Cassie crumbles to dust in front of Scott though. I doubt Disney would allow MARVEL to kill a kid even temporarily though.
As I said I watched Infinity War this Thursday and I hated it...so there's that. ;D
Can ye elaborate?
I'm not quite sure how one can hate one of the best written and most visually impressive film in the MCU which is the only one that has any real stakes thus far, but to each their own.
Spoiler
I didn't dislike it that much after I saw it, I liked the first part up to when they actually charge in the Wakandan fight. But I don't like how they require yet another superhero to save them. I find myself rooting against him/her (Depending on which version they use) because the entire superhero universe that we have come to know from the Marvel movies was unable to stop them. It felt like it wasn't even a story because all of the characters got so few lines. The writing when Starlord attacks Thanos against all reason AND emotion in this case, since they're already trying to end Thanos, why does he feel the need to start punching him? Why does Doctor Strange not just reverse time a bit and fix what went wrong with the fight? Why does he announce that he has a team that alerts Thanos to Iron Man bringing down this colossal structure on his head which would have done some more damage had Thanos not destroyed it half a second before impact? Just a few gripes with the story and the fact that I feel no sympathy whatsoever with the new heroes coming in.
Anyone else think that Scarlet Johhanson (spelling?) looked hungover the entire movie?
@JetthebinturongHow could you not have seen the first two Cap movies and the second Thor? XD This must be remedied forthwith. (I know a lot of people complain about the Thor movies, and yeah, they're flawed, but I really enjoyed them. And
The Winter Soldier is a veritable masterpiece.)

My justification for the Quill thing is that he's an abductee raised under the constant fear of being eaten. He's not exactly the most emotionally stable or rational dude.

"But I don't like how they require yet another superhero to save them. I find myself rooting against him/her (Depending on which version they use) because the entire superhero universe that we have come to know from the Marvel movies was unable to stop them." I don't really understand what this means.
The characters got plenty of lines. Except for team Cap.
Reversing time damages the universe if done incorrectly. I feel like trying it on the guy who has other sources of ultimate power is doing it incorrectly. Infinity Stones are bad news, no matter what. And I think Thanos destroyed the moon before he threw it because he was unwilling to destroy what was left of Titan.
I suppose the main problem is you're treating this as a superhero movie. It's not, it's a supervillain movie. This is Thanos' story through and through. He is the only character in this movie with an arc, and he's the one that makes the tough choices. From his perspective he's the lone hero standing against these people who are trying to prevent him from saving the universe. If you pay attention you'll see that he doesn't even act like a villain most of the time. He only hurts or kills people when he absolutely has to (as in he literally only kills Heimdall, Loki and Vision when he could easily kill anyone else). He keeps his promises. Obviously he's still a horrible psychopath, but this story does a lot to humanise him. He's not the Mad Titan. He's just Thanos.
So I got to see Infinity War yesterday! It was totally epic, and I loved it.
Spoiler
I already knew beforehand that Loki was gonna die, but that was the only death I knew about. I felt really bad for Thor being stuck there, forced to watch his brother die, but at least Loki died semi-heroically? I mean, he was trying to stab Thanos, so at least he didn't die betraying Thor or anything. Also the part where he said, "We have a Hulk" was awesome. XD
Gamora's death was pretty sad, too, even though I've never seen the GotG movies and wasn't that much attached to the characters.
Peter Parker's vanishing/death was the saddest one out of all of the others, though. The way he grabbed on to Tony and was so terrified. Ugh, I felt so bad for him!
But Tony calling that guy Squidward. XD
Also can we all agree that Thor's new hammer is awful?

Spoiler
Yeah, I don't want to watch a movie about a supervillain, my purpose in going to see Infinity War is too see him brought low, not high.
And let me explain that paragraph that statement that confused you. The point of superheroes is to save the world no matter the odds correct? But then they need saving themselves, so what's the point of having these superheroes if they are incapable of saving the world when it REALLY matters.
Spoiler
Then you had unreasonable expectations going into the film. They have been upfront that this is part one of a two-part story. Villains don't lose in part ones. It was obvious before this film was even released that Thanos would win at the end.
That is, by and large, the point of superheroes, yes. But I think it's unreasonable to expect them to win when facing a foe who has the most powerful objects in the universe as weapons. Thanos cannot be stopped by brute force, because he is the most brutal force. They need a clever plan, not just "hit him with everything we've got and hope for the best." Which is why Strange gave up the Time Stone, because he saw that one possible future where they win, and knew that that was how they got there. Also the Infinity Gauntlet broke after Thanos used it, which was clearly something he didn't expect, and probably throws a wrench in his plans. And Fury calling on Marvel was another part of this. There's loads of set-up telling us how the heroes will win.
Spoiler
Actually, I was unaware that this would be a two-parter until after the fact. So I disliked being surprised like that...and most of my other grievances are caused by my surprise that this was a two-parter.
Can we talk about the positioning of the Infinity Stones in the Gauntlet for a moment?
This is how they're laid out in the comics:
And I want to talk about the big Stone. You might think that's the Time Stone, because the Time Stone is green in the movies. But no, that's the Soul Stone. It makes sense that it should take pride of place over the other Stones, since it grants the user total control over life and death, among other things. It's the most powerful Stone, and therefore the biggest.
Infinity War
So why on Earth did they swap it out for the Mind Stone in the movies? Arguably the weakest of all the Stones. Is it just because Thanos collected it last? Is it because of the emotional connection to Vision? This has been bugging me since I saw the movie. The Soul Stone should be the biggest and it should be in the centre. The Soul Stone is even more plot relevant than any of the others. WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT?
Okay MARVEL is just trying to trigger me at this point. That
Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer got me so mad about the
Young Avengers thing.
"I wish I could fight bad guys like you!"
IS THAT FORESHADOWING LIKE TEN YEARS IN ADVANCE?
ARE THEY ACTUALLY TRYING TO SET THIS UP OR ARE THEY JUST TROLLING
YOUNG AVENGERS FANS?
SERIOUSLY WHAT IS GOING ON???
Really excited for the movie though. It looks awesome.
Oh also I changed my rankings.
My new rankings. Spoilered because you probably don't care.

14. Iron Man 2
13. Thor
12. The Avengers
11. Ant-Man
10. Doctor Strange
9. Age of Ultron
8. Civil War
7. Guardians of the Galaxy
6. Guardians 2
5. Iron Man
4. Infinity War
3. Ragnarok
2. Spider-Man Homecoming
1. Black Panther
Yeah I really don't think the original
Avengers is all that great, shoot me.
Ant-Man and
Doctor Strange were just so new and fresh. And
Doctor Strange is now above
Ant-Man since I rewatched
Strange and it's way better than I remember. And when I watched both
Guardians movies I remember saying they were the best. Don't remember saying that with
Civil War so I've moved it back.
You liked Black Panther that much? Interesting. I've heard a lot of different opinions about it.
In my opinion, Black Panther transcends the boundaries of a superhero movie and is genuinely a fantastic movie in its own right. Incredibly political, brilliantly emotional, and with fantastic worldbuilding to boot. It's almost Shakespearean. Which I suppose you'd expect from a movie about a king.
Hat Films was rather disappointed in T'challa's actor. ;)
It's going on my list to see: Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Infinity War.
I think Chadwick Boseman is an amazing actor. I guess he's kind of solemn and serious most of the time, so that might've contributed to it. But some of the most memorable scenes are because of Chadwick Boseman.
I agree about how good Black Panther is; it's not just good for a superhero movie or for a fantasy/sci-fi movie, it's just a great film in general. It's especially impressive when you consider how it had to be so many different things at once, being both a part of the titanic Marvel money-making machine and an important cultural touchstone with a lot of heavy political baggage surrounding its very premise. But it pulled it all off wonderfully; it's a fun and exciting action movie, while also being beautifully emotional and not pulling any punches in regards to the issues it deals with. It actually kind of makes me feel bad that I've never seen Ryan Coogler's previous two films (Fruitvale Station and Creed), since I tend to stick to my little bubble of sci-fi, fantasy, and animation.
I find Black Panther to be a good movie, with some iffy writing here and there. I enjoyed it a lot, but the way T'Challa handled the politics of it all in the 2nd third or so was terrible.
...
I mean that was the point so I don't really consider that a flaw in the movie?
(You're talking about Korea, right?)
Spoiler
I have no idea. I was talking about the point when the cousin was brought home. He should've been welcomed with trumpets and celebration. That might have made him change his mind about his goal to kill T'Challa. The iffy writing I had in mind I have now forgotten about completely. So I apologize for not being able to recall the writing to which I was referring.
I do know however, that I need to get a rhino, their 60-0 time is insane.
Spoiler
He was a terrorist and a murderer though. Plus a member of a foreign power's military known for assassination and other black ops. Plus his goal was to militarise the black communities of the world with Wakandan tech to overthrow the white powers. I highly doubt that a few trumpets and celebrations could change that.
On a completely unrelated note, the quote in my signature is one of the many reasons I love the
Young Avengers, and Wiccan in particular.
But I've realised I've hyped myself up for
Young Avengers over nothing. Disney would never let MARVEL make a movie with a gay main couple.
I'm not going to comment on how utterly pathetic it is that I killed this discussion merely by mentioning something gay. Except whoops I just did.
Anyway.
Infinity War
James Gunn recently revealed that Groot's last "I am Groot" to Rocket before he turns to dust was simply "Dad."
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Actually, it wasn't because you mentioned anything gay, it was because I have absolutely no knowledge about the Young Avengers, I didn't even know such a thing existed. I don't think many people here are that knowledgeable on Marvel, I could be dead wrong, but I haven't commented on any of your Young Avengers things because of mine own ignorance. ;D
But we were talking about Black Panther. I just added that bit about the Young Avengers in.
Also I was in Who's online when you were posting in this thread and decided not to, so you did have something to say.
...I did? I don't remember honestly. And I had nothing more to say about Black Panther, you were right. That's why I was no longer discussing that. I thought we moved onto Young Avengers.
Well, I have been posting less, and figured anything I had to say wasn't worth much. :P
I don't think that would be too far out, Jet, for Disney to do that. It may not gross as much, but I think they would be accepting enough to consider it.
I think Disney do have the guts to make something about a gay couple, but I doubt it'll be a movie. I could see them doing a Netflix show.
Also...
Spoiler
I have this nasty feeling Rocket's going to pull a Yondu in Avengers 4
Mm.
Spoiler
It would make a good parallel, considering Groot's last words.
Spoiler
But I don't want him to go... Plus it doesn't help that his arc feels kinda full circle at this point. He went from being a total mean person to a slightly less-of-an-mean person. That and he's the only Guardian sans Nebula (though I don't think she counts tbh) not 'dusted off' I just think it might happen. I don't want it to but I'm not the CEO of marvel...
Spoiler
Personally I don't think they'll kill him off. The Guardians have a third movie confirmed, and Rocket is the soul of their team. I don't think it can work without him.
Has anything been confirmed, as far as a Young Avengers MCU show or film?
No. What we do know that relates to the Young Avengers possibly being in the MCU is:
The Russo Brothers have expressed interest in doing a Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) movie.
Twin baby boys have been cast for Avengers 4. The only twin boys that matter to the current MCU characters are Wiccan and Speed, who are the children of Wanda.
Cassie Lang (Ant-Man's daughter) has been cast as a teenager in Avengers 4.
Jude Law will be playing Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel, in the Captain Marvel movie. Mar-Vell is the father of the Young Avenger Hulkling.
That does sound kind of convincing. Although, they use twins all the time to play little kids, so it could really be any character.
I say babies. They asked for toddlers.
If it wasn't for an important character, their wouldn't have been a specific casting call, it would've just been part of the extras.
Could be Wanda and Quicksilver as kiddos.
Either way, sounds intriguing, hopefully they'll announce it.

Yeah, baby Leia and Luke in Revenge of the Sith were played by the same baby boy (the kid of someone who worked on the movie).
Like I said, I actually meant toddlers. And male toddlers and female toddlers do not look alike. And if it was to play Wanda and Pietro, why did they ask specifically for boys rather than twins in general?

Here is a video summing up why Doctor Doom is not only one of the greatest things to come out of comic books, but also one of, if not the best, most metal character in all of fiction.
swearing (including in the title)
He's just so completely absurd he'd fit perfectly into the MCU. "What? Use the door?
Like a peasant?"
On that topic, who/what from comics/other non MCU MARVEL media do you guys want to see in the MCU?
I definitely want to see Nova and the Nova Corps. But, unpopular opinion time, I'd rather it be Sam Alexander than Rich Rider. It's much easier to explain Sam's backstory, plus they need to cast young characters who can carry the franchise for a while. They already want to do Ms Marvel (that's Kamala Khan, not to be confused with Captain Marvel Carol Danvers who used to be Ms Marvel) and they've hinted at the existence of Miles Morales in Homecoming, so adding in Sam Alexander as Nova would make sense as it could continue to set up Champions.
And even if it's not the MCU, what MARVEL things would you want to see adapted in any medium. Movies, TV, cartoons, animated movies, whatever you like.
Yeah. . . problem is, they (other people) already tried in Fantastic 4, and people may not want "yet another reboot". However, it may turn out very cool if the MCU could do it well. He's freaking awesome, though.
As far as other Marvel characters/stories I'd want to see, honestly I can't say. Stuff including the X-men would be cool, stuff with AIM as another organization. . . There is so much stuff. And a lot of it may be difficult to adapt to movie format, especially. The Celestials, the many run-ins with Galactus, the Kree, return of Ultron (but made cooler). . .

You don't necessarily have to do a Fantastic Four to do Doom. Sure he first appeared in their comics, but he's more of an
Avengers villain now, and his origin, contrary to what the other movies would have you believe, has nothing to do with the F4.
"The Marvel Cosmic Universe" seems to be where they're going with the MCU, so Celestials, kree and Galactus may not be as implausible as they seem. I believe Feige has said they want to do an Eternals movie. Galactus is currently a Fox property however, and it's been confirmed that none of the current planned films deal with the Fox properties.
EDIT: So I just found out who the villain for the next Spider-Man movie will be, and who's playing him. And it's Jake Gyllenhall as Mysterio. I think I speak for everyone when I say if they don't go full fishbowl costume I'm boycotting this movie. I want him to look exactly like this:
On that note there was something I wanted from the MCU that I forgot to mention. I want Zemo to break out of prison somehow, and I want him in his full purple outfit, with a sword. Maybe they could do a
Masters of Evil movie and a more comic-based Zemo could be in that.
For those that don't know, in the comics, Zemo looks something like this:
He's cleverer than movie Zemo, and he's also a sword-wielding maniac, who for reasons unknown to me wears a full purple bodysuit with what is basically a sock for a mask. And that to me is infinitely cooler than the Zemo we got in
Civil War. I want purple bodysuit Zemo on my screen like yesterday. It's not as if that's the most ridiculous costume in comics, and they did Loki and Hela's stupid helmets (that I love, don't get me wrong) so I don't see why they can't put Zemo in a purple bodysuit.
Also I want them to get into MARVEL UK. Merlin. Captain Britain. Black Knight. The Ebony Blade. It's just insane, but it would allow them to do more with magic. So far they've only got Wanda's Chaos Magic and Doctor Strange to represent that side of the MARVEL universe. Delving into MARVEL UK is the perfect opportunity to add more.
Jet asked about non-MCU media that I'd like to see added. I, for one, really like the Great Lakes Avengers (despite the presence of such
endearing characters as "Big Bertha" and "Flatman")
Mr. Immortal
The leader of the GLA, Mr. Immortal, is, well, immortal. However, it's not the same sort of healing factor present in Wolverine, but rather a guaranteed immortality, so when he's tried to kill himself multiple times in multiple ways, he always survives.
Taken from the Wikipedia page:
QuoteHe has recovered from being shot, suffocated, stabbed, drowned, crushed, starved, dehydrated, exploded, poisoned, decapitated, irradiated, and incinerated... His body will never rot or age.
He's not even the traditional mutant that the others are, that is, the next step in human evolution, he's technically the
final step in human evolution, and will be the one around at the end of the universe, and the one to whom its secret will be revealed.
There's also the one and only Doorman, who can create portals through walls, but only into the next room over... by tapping into the Darkforce. And he can fly and collect the souls of the recently deceased.
I'm sure that other members of the group have their merits, but Mr. Immortal is the big and important one. (He also has a bunch of blonde hair that makes me think of Buddy/Incrediboy... but I digress.)

So, Mr. Immortal is basically Marvel's Vandall Savage.
Vandal is a caveman imbued with the power of immortality and genius level intellect by some sort of meteor. I don't think they equate.
Well, they can't exactly do a copy-paste of him.
Vandal can't die either, no matter what.
I'm just thinking of the other correlations between some of the DC and Marvel heroes and villains. Most of them are not copies, but there are enough similarities to make them "equivalents."
DC: Superman - Marvel: Gladiator, Hyperion, the Sentry.
DC: Flash - Marvel: Quicksilver
DC: Steel - Marvel: Iron Man
The list goes on.

That's hilarious and adorable. :D
I found this amazing MCU tribute the other day and I've watched it quite a few times since.
Just watched Black Panther. It was pretty good.
@Jukka the Sling That's actually the song that was performed live in the pre-game show for the League of Legends Worlds Finals.
Some cooky choreography but it's still fairly nice.
What did I just watch. XD I knew the song was for a game, but I didn't know the championships were such a huge deal, and I didn't realize you played it.
I do. ;D
Actually they sold out the Bird's Nest, which was used by China to host the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
So has anyone seen the trailer for
Into the Spider-Verse?
It looks amazing. So stylistically different from literally any other movie I've ever seen. It looks like a comic book come to life! I'm definitely going to see it as soon as is humanly possible. Not sure who my favourite Spider is. Probably Noir or 2099. But I do love Miles, and he definitely has the most filmworthy story. And regardless of the story, I would go and see this movie just for the visuals. So yeah. I'm excited.
It is quite unique. Interesting how they're going to explain it all. They did have some setup to do when they have done it before.
Has anyone seen Infinity war?
Basically everyone? Read the most recent pages for people's thoughts. It starts on page 42.
I still haven't even seen Thor Ragnarok yet. . .
for Avengers 4
So apparently Gwyneth Paltrow accidentally revealed a spoiler for Avengers 4 in a recent interview:
"[Pepper] obviously starts as [Tony's] dutiful assistant, and then the relationship evolves, and now this decade later they're married, and they have a child. Their relationship has evolved in all of the ways that great romances evolve."
So they'll be married and have a kid! I'm so excited! I was thinking about this yesterday and realized something else. Jet had said several pages back that there was a casting call for identical twin boys, which he said might be Billy and Tommy, who were Vision and Wanda's kids in the comics. But then I realized that it must be Pepper and Tony's child, and not Scarletvision's! It makes perfect sense, and it also means that they're having a boy!
Spoiler
Damn. And that's sad, since Tony is so very dead. But they were pretty obviously setting that up in Infinity War and Avengers 4 takes place five years later, I believe.
Still, it could be that their kid is someone else who was not the twin boys. Sure movies often use twins for a kid, but only out of necessity, and even identical twins have small differences that can break the illusion (again, they wanted toddlers, not babies). Plus Elizabeth Olsen has said she knows that she's getting to do her "favourite Scarlet Witch story" and we also know that her favourite Scarlet Witch story is House of M, which is the comic that her kids were first reintroduced in after they died. Then there's the matter of Cassie Lang being a teenager, and explicitly stating that she wants to be a superhero in the Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer, and the fact that the Russo brothers want to do a Kate Bishop movie (who cannot work as a character on her own), and the future of the MCU is young characters to keep the franchise going. I can still hope. Nothing's set in stone.
Also sidenote that no one besides me will care about but I find kinda cool is that Letitia Wright and Daniel Kaluuya, who played Shuri and W'Kabi in
Black Panther (obviously Daniel has a bigger claim to fame as the protagonist of
Get Out) have both been in
Doctor Who. But I suppose most British actors have at this point, including Sir Ian McKellen.
That's where I saw him! Ah.
Yeah, it definitely sounds like a Young Avengers thing is still gonna happen at some point. I read that a
Hawkeye movie is being considered for Phase 4 anyway, which would be a good way for Clint to meet Kate and pass the mantle on to her before retiring.
Avengers 4
It's interesting to note that Paltrow said all this in an official, collectible Avengers magazine. You'd think they would have caught that in editing somewhere.... Another possibility I've seen suggested online is that Paltrow said this because Pepper was originally going to be pregnant in IW, but then they changed it at the last minute. Seriously hope that isn't the case, because I want happiness for them in the next movie! I want them to actually get married - they've been living together for so long! - and I need them to have a happy family life with their kid for as long as possible before Tony's probable death.
Possible future storylines
In the comics, Clint died in one of Wanda's magical freakouts (basically intended to punish the Avengers for erasing her memory of her own children). Later Kate Bishop took up his bow when they were attacked at the ruins of Avengers Mansion (also destroyed by the Scarlet Witch during that freakout) by Kang the Conqueror. Having proven herself in battle (because she was good at archery beforehand anyway, she wasn't just miraculously able to use a bow for the first time), and due to her similar personality to Clint, Captain America passed his bow onto her and named her the new Hawkeye. Though Clint later came back to life (as all comic characters do), and gave her a single archery lesson, and his tacit seal of approval, it always felt more poignant to me that Clint's friends decided that she was worthy to inherit his legacy after he was dead, so I'd rather they went down that route.
On the other hand, since it seems like Clint will be turning up as Ronin in the next Avengers, and not Hawkeye, him passing down the bow could work, as he was Ronin when he first met Kate.
My only problem is I don't see why Kate would become Hawkeye without the Young Avengers. I suppose she's the daughter of a rich businessman, so maybe they could make him involved in some shady dealings and she gets caught up in the middle of it and ends up meeting Hawkeye? That could work.
Hey, ah, might want to fix that spoiler tag.
Whoops. Fixed.
*Thumbs up.*
What do you think of Agent Venom, Jet?
Agent Venom's pretty cool. His look is awesome, and I like the idea of redeeming Flash Thompson and the Symbiote by making them into a hero.
Same. It makes for a good story.
As another MCU movie has come and I've finally seen it (yes Britain got it a month late) it's time to redo my MCU rankings.
15. Iron Man 2
14. Thor
13. The Avengers
12. Ant-Man and the Wasp
11. Ant-Man
10. Doctor Strange
9. Age of Ultron
8. Guardians of the Galaxy
7. Civil War
6. Guardians 2
5. Iron Man
4. Infinity War
3. Ragnarok
2. Spider-Man Homecoming
1. Black Panther
Obviously my top 5 has stayed the same, as has the bottom of my list. It's mostly the middle that's changed. I decided I was being too harsh on Civil War, but I still like Guardians 2 more, so I only moved it up one space. And then Ant-Man and the Wasp was decent, but overall not as fun as the first movie.
So I recently learned that Feige has confirmed that MARVEL has deliberately been planting the seeds for a Young Avengers movie! At first I was happy, but then I was terrified that Wiccan and Hulkling or their relationship might be taken out of it, but then I learned that Feige has also confirmed that there will be LGBT characters in the MCU (including at least one who already exists) and usually he's cagey about confirming anything but his answer to the question of LGBT characters was just a straightforward "yes." So if they're already confirming that, then they have no incentive to remove Billy and Teddy's relationship from a YA story.
Of course I'm still slightly scared, because they might mess it up, and I love all of these characters, not just Billy and Teddy. And I'm also worried they might scrub Tommy's past as a juvenile delinquent clean, which would completely undermine the entire point of his character. And then there's Eli taking sci-fi steroids in order to be a superhero, Nate being a young Kang, Nate murdering Jonas, Cassie's relationship with her parents, Kate's assault (yes,
that kind of assault), Teddy's past of doing stuff for... Greg? Was his name Greg? I can't remember and Billy being bullied and aaaaaaaaargh there's so much they could do wrong. Is this what it feels like to be a fan of the more mainstream heroes? I mean the MARVEL movies haven't set a foot wrong yet, but the Young Avengers are such a difficult thing to get right. I feel like there's too much set-up to do in one movie, but then the YA aren't big enough characters to warrant solo movies. There's just so much that can go wrong. But still, I remain happy that they're getting a bigscreen debut, and nothing would be cooler than to see Wiccan's powers on screen. Or the time warping when Kang comes back to the past to take Nate back to his own time, but Nate refuses and time starts to break around them. UGH! All of the YA stories are amazing and would translate so well to film I'd love to see all of them. But the 2005 run especially.
The interviews about YA and LGBT characters
Feige responded to whether fans will see young heroes like the Young Avengers join either Marvel TV show Runaways or Cloak & Dagger:
"Well...sure. And both of those you just mentioned we talked about for a long time and they went over to be successful TV shows. We've always been fans of Power Pack and figuring that out. And yes. So...where and when we would see the evolution of that? I don't know. And certainly - taking our cue from the comics as we always do – that's why we wanted Cassie, a very young Cassie in this movie, to be inspired by her father. Just planting seeds."
When are we getting a Gay, Bi, LGBTQ, out character in the MCU? Is it even in the works?
Kevin Feige: Yes.
The Playlist: That's the answer?
Kevin Feige: Yeah, that's the answer.
The Playlist: It's not someone we've seen yet, I'm guessing?
Kevin Feige: Both.
The Playlist: Both?
Kevin Feige: Both ones you've seen and ones you haven't seen.
Ones we've seen definitely means Valkyrie and/or Okoye.
Hm, I didn't realize they were outright planning a Young Avengers movie either. And yeah, I figured Valkyrie was one of the LGBT characters they've been mentioning. I don't see it about Okoye, though, 'cause she has a husband (or did?), and she wasn't LGBT in the comics. Ayo, on the other hand...
I just found a quote which sums up why Kate Bishop is such a great character, and also explains why she can't be "Kate Barton" in the MCU.
Mentions of sexual assault
"Kate Bishop [is] important for two reasons. One, she's the only member of this team with no superpowers, and two, she's a survivor of sexual assault. Every other character on this team has been gifted amazing abilities either by chance or on purpose, most of them are legacy heroes being mentored by a pro, but not Kate. She would have to work ten times harder than everybody else to make hero status if her only handicap was a lack of powers, but she also has to work through severe trauma at the very same time. But still she goes out there day in, day out and fights the very thing she should be most afraid of in the world. She is a hero because she works that hard."
It came from this video about how the Young Avengers could be introduced to the MCU. I don't necessarily agree with everything he says, and I would obviously much prefer the lineup from the comics, but he tells a good story and I wouldn't be that disappointed if his version of events was what we got. So long as Wiccan also comes with Speed. You can't separate twins, even in fiction.
Wow. I don't read many comics, so I never expected to fall in love with Uatu (the Watcher) of all people. I thought he was barely even a character, just showing his face when big decisions happened. But wow he is such a fascinating and tragic character. And kind too. It's just really weird to think of him as a character, rather than just a feature of the cosmos. If you ever want to know who Uatu is and where he came from, just read Original Sin #0. Not only did that single issue of a comic make me love Uatu, but also Sam Alexander. Obviously this isn't the first I've seen of Sam, but it is the first book I've read about him. I think I'm going to read the rest of the issues too, maybe read his books if he has any. After I'm done with the Young Avengers, of course.
Aaaaaaaa all the promotional images from Captain Marvel look awesome! I'm getting really hyped for this movie, and before now I really didn't care about it. I love her costume but Ronan's costume is absolutely my favourite. And the skrulls look awesome! Also if Nick Fury doesn't lose his eye in this movie I'm going to be really annoyed because I want to see how that happened, and I don't know of any other prequel movies on MARVEL's plate right now. I think they've already confirmed Black Widow won't be a prequel? I think I heard that somewhere.
Hmmmm.
The photos are pretty interesting. It's awesome/scary how they de-aged Samuel Jackson.
...Waaaait. I read a while back that Coulson would appear in this movie. Does that mean we'll be seeing a de-aged Coulson too?!?!
THEY'RE MAKING CAPTAIN BRITAIN. AND GUY RITCHIE IS ATTACHED AS DIRECTOR! The current title attached to the project is
Captain Britain and The Black Knight. Wonder which Black Knight they'd go for. My instincts say Dane Whitman, since he's the most prominent. But Dane Whitman is a good guy, so I think they might go for Nathan Garrett instead, if they want The Black Knight to be the villain. But it could be a team-up of Britain and Whitman, with someone else as the villain, such as Morgan le Faye. Although she might be better suited to a Scarlet Witch project, or even King Arthur, if they want to go that far back. And then of course there's the rumours about Spider-Woman being in
Spider-Man: Far From Home, and she originated as a
Captain Britain character. Who else could go in? I guess Psylocke, since she's Britain's sister, and the Disney/Fox merger would have happened by then. Union Jack, definitely, though he might show up somewhere else. I am already hyped for this.

Clark Gregg does not age. They probably wouldn't need that much de-aging.
PSA: If you haven't played or watched a let's play of Spider-Man PS4 you're missing out on one of the best Spider-Man stories ever written. Let's put it this way: I have never been moved to tears by a Spider-Man movie, and I was by this game.
Also a while ago we were talking about characters we want in the MCU and I want Moon Knight. Preferably with a movie, not a TV show. Yes I know he's practically confirmed, but there is no limit to my excitement for a schizophrenic undead Batman in service of an ancient Egyptian moon god. For those who don't know, Moon Knight was a mercenary who died at the feet of a statue of Khonshu, Egyptian god of the moon. Khonshu offered to resurrect him so long as he became the god's avatar on Earth. As for which version of Moon Knight, I would want the full white costume rather than the black and white one. Yes the black and white one is awesome, but the pure white just works so well.
Some blood

Moon Knight definitely sounds like an interesting character. I hadn't really heard of him before now.
I'm really anxious to find out if the rumored Captain Britain movie will be part of the MCU.
The
Captain Marvel trailer dropped.
I'm less hyped by this than I was by the pictures tbh. It looks good, but not great.
It looks good. (Although Coulson didn't look de-aged enough, imo.) I'm excited for it now and I wasn't really before, so, there's that.
The Blockbuster Video tho.
Have you guys seen the Avengers 4 trailer?!
Yeah. Looks good!
I watched the Spiderverse movie. It was good! The art style was very unique, and made for a great visual experience. I also really appreciate the characters' unique personalities, like the real fear that Miles Morales had when faced with the villains.
Also, Kingpin is an absolute unit.
Spider-Man Far From Home anyone? ;D
Haven't seen the trailer yet.
Honestly, I'm so hyped for avengers 4 ;D
The new Spider-Man looks fun!
Who isn't hyped for Avengers 4? XD
I'm not!
You Aren't? :o
Not really.. I find interest in action movies, but those just don't appeal to me. I'll sit down and watch it, but I'm sure I could find more productive things to fill my time with.
Sometimes you just got to sit back and enjoy life, kiddo.
But I kind of agree. I've been so occupied I haven't watched a movie in forever...I actually really need to catch up on my Marvel movies. The last one I watched was Spider-man Homecoming.
Marvel is just so good. The reason is, because they successfully created a non rushed feeling cinematic universe.
I feel like justice league was kinda rushed...

You're not missing anything in Infinity War. Wait until the next one comes out before watching Infinity War probably.
You're literally the only person with that opinion. Most superhero fans, and even some critics, consider
Infinity War a complete triumph. Which it was.
Spoiler
Also, not liking a film because the bad guy wins is just... ridiculous? Especially one that's part of a series.
I really wish Wolverine and the X-Men wasn't canceled. It was such a good show.
Wolverine and the X-Men is basically what got me into MARVEL. (At the same time, The Batman got me into DC). That show was great. I think I can trace Nightcrawler being one of my favourite characters back to that show.
One of the worst Marvel shows in my opinion was Avengers Assemble. It just didn't live up to it's predecessor.
It was okay for a couple seasons, but got more and more "ADD" appealing, I feel, later on.
Also, Tony Stark's voice was grating to the ears.

And I figured out why I don't like it. It uses the Deus Ex Machina with bringing in Captain Marvel, at least it does, in my opinion.
Except that's kind of an afterthought. . . In my opinion, if it was truly Deus ex machina then it would have been done during the main movie, instead of after the credits. (Right? It's been a while since I have seen it.) I haven't seen Captain Marvel, but what I got out of it is that it was just a way to bring in another character.
I suppose. To me it was just, "Oh no, all of the superheroes of earth lost and universal doom was given, time to bring in an
all-powerful superhero to save the day."
Welcome to comic books, I guess. :P
Except I don't think Marvel is stupid enough to turn Carol into a Deux Ex Machina- just because she's coming doesn't automatically mean that the world is saved. If she comes in and solos Thanos then yeah, she counts as one but I don't really see that happening so I don't think it's fair to say she's a Deux Ex Machina.
I'm going to be seeing Endgame on Tuesday evening after work, and I'm excited and terrified. I'm also really really hoping that this meme I saw on Pinterest earlier wasn't a death spoiler.
Has anyone seen it yet? (NO SPOILERS!)
Both of my sisters have, but I have not.
The older of my younger sisters cried three times during the movie, however, that's all I know aside from spoilers.
I teared up a few times. My best friend was hyperventilating.
It's probably my favourite MCU film.
That's certainly something to hear, coming from you.
To be perfectly honest I thought the second act was fairly poor, not actually bad, but like Doctor Strange/Ant-Man levels of interesting, but the third act was better than anything in any other MCU film and as the culmination of this massive 11-year arc, it was pretty much perfect.
Okay, reading these posts, I'm even more excited and scared. How am I gonna survive until Tuesday. ._.
u won't º-)
Question: Do you guys always plan to see a movie around the day it comes out, or do you wait until the crowd dies down?
I usually end up seeing it a few days late, and I book tickets online in advance.
Anyway, I just got back from Endgame and I have so many feelings that are fluctuating all over the place, many positive, many not.
I didn't like it.
I felt the same way about Infinity War Sheev, I haven't seen Endgame yet, but I hope that it's better than Infinity War.
I mean there were a few good things about it. And hey, it was still better than Thor Ragnarok.
I actually liked Thor Ragnarok, except for the ending of course.
Only if you haven't seen Infinity War
The ending is just "We're saved! Asgard shall live on because it is the people, not the place that is Asgard. Oh wait, Thanos showed up and killed EVERY SINGLE ASGARDIAN EXCEPT FOR THOR!!!
Infinity War/minor spoilers for Endgame
Some of the Asgardians, presumably half of them, escaped in pods or smaller ships. You can see Asgardians in Endgame.
Ragnarok was a brilliant film.
I rather liked Ragnarok as a whole. There were a couple parts that I feel could have been better (A little more than just fighting on Hela's part, for example), but I liked it. The ending, I feel, was appropriate.
I liked Ragnarok at the time, but my feelings towards it have cooled since then. I just wish they didn't make Thor such an OOC idiot. Also, I'm someone who's always liked the medievalness and gravitas of the other two Thor movies, and Ragnarok disrespectfully stomped all over the characters and legacy of those movies. At least, that's how I see it.
It's still a hilarious movie if I overlook those problems, though.
God of thunder gets defeated by some electricity. Makes total sense it is just dumb.

God of thunder gets defeated by some electricity. Makes total sense it is just dumb.
I mean the device could easily be injecting a paralytic into the bloodstream. Also has Thor ever displayed an immunity to electricity? He can control it, but that doesn't automatically mean he's immune.
The whole channeling lightening through his body in Ragnarok would seem to suggest an immunity to electricity.
Different frequency maybe?
Who knows! I mean if Thor's electricity is a different frequency, then does that mean it's weaker? If he channels that electricity through his body nicely and gets defeated by more electricity, I think he either has a limit or his is weaker and thus cannot control the other electricity. (Sorry for the long conspiracy theory!)
Ooooor he is only resistant to high voltages.l
So... Far From Home. They did it again. How I felt about Endgame? Same stuff here. The second half of the movie is one of the best hours of footage produced by the MCU, but the first half is generic, mediocre schlock. I could point out to you the exact moment the film goes from mediocre to great. But the end result is a very high-end-of-middling film.
Now I think it's time to update my ranking. I still have not seen Hulk, Iron Man 3, or the first two Captain Americas.
18. Iron Man 2
17. Thor
16. The Avengers
15. Ant-Man and the Wasp
14. Captain Marvel
13. Ant-Man
12. Doctor Strange
11. Age of Ultron
10. Guardians of the Galaxy
9. Far From Home
8. Civil War
7. Guardians 2
6. Iron Man
5. Infinity War
4. Ragnarok
3. Spider-Man Homecoming
2. Black Panther
1. Endgame
FFH has TWO after-credits scenes, so stay right to the end. Trust me, you want to see them both.
I differ with you slightly about Far From Home, it's definitely my favorite Marvel movie to date.
Spoiler
I found a lot of the early humour cringey - the main teacher guy should've honestly been fired he was so incompetent, so that made his character unbelievable to me. And I don't like the Happy/May stuff.
Also I spent the first hour of the movie waiting for the other shoe to drop, because I knew Beck was the villain, and that the monsters were illusions already, purely by virtue of it being a story about Mysterio, who if you know anything about him, you know that he's a villain who uses illusions. And I didn't find the story of the fake monsters that interesting, or the action that great.
But I do stand by that literally everything from the facade at the bar dropping is a complete masterwork of cinema. It's just a shame I found the first half so unengaging.
Spoiler
I came in knowing nothing about Mysterio, but I did have my suspicions about him the entire time, and as soon as they defeated the fire beast I knew. Also, I find the Happy/May stuff really charming. I find the teacher funny because the entire trip is like a really badly botched field trip, I've been on plenty of those. (Seriously, once we went to a lake to study the marine life there, and when we got there it turned out that it had been drained to repair the dam near there. ;D
The temptation to open those is real.
I already did :P
Regret?
Meh, just expose the villain and a bunch of other stuff I don't understand (probably will when I watch it), which Jet said was pretty obvious (though Del said it wasn't)
Black panther in my opinion is number 1
I'm not sure which ones were my favorite... I liked Endgame and Captain America: The First Avenger movies a lot though. (Then again, I like most of the Marvel movies so...)
I liked Civil War and Endgame, but they're all good.
So I rewatched Far From Home. As with Endgame, I liked it a lot more the second go around, but I still don't think I'd move it up in my rankings.
Also can we talk about the phase 4 slate? I don't know all the dates but from what I remember it's:
Black Widow (May 2020)
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (Disney+ show)
The EternalsShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsWandaVision (Disney+ show)
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of MadnessLoki (Disney+ show)
What If? (Disney+ show)
Hawkeye (Disney+ show)
and finally
Thor: Love & Thunder (May 2021)
Spoilers for Endgame and Far From Home, also don't open if you don't want to know anything about the upcoming movies/shows
So going through them in order:
Black Widow: Confirmed to be set some time before Endgame - possibly in the five years between Infinity War and Endgame, or possibly just after Civil War. Will feature Taskmaster as the main villain. Taskmaster, at least in the comics, has the ability to replicate any physical movement he sees, which makes him an expert martial artist. The film will also feature the Red Guardian - Russia's answer to Captain America. Possibly will feature the rest of the Russian Avengers (I think they're called the Red Stars? Don't quote me on that) Darkstar (flying, electricity-wielding woman), Ursa Major (bear-man) and Crimson Dynamo (Russia's answer to Iron Man). In the comics they obviously started as Soviets, but that may not be the case in the MCU. Although the guy playing Red Guardian is pretty old and has a bit of weight to him, so he may be retired. Might also feature the other Black Widow from the comics, Yelena whatever-her-name-is. Supposedly has something to do with Natasha's training in the Red Room, and will deal with what exactly happened in Budapest.
Pretty hyped for this. Looks to be a fun spy-thriller, and I love Taskmaster.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Obviously about Sam and Bucky. I guess it will probably be about Sam coming to terms with becoming Captain America. The main villain will be Baron Zemo (the villain from Civil War) in a new comic-inspired costume.

Not especially excited for this. The only reason I care is a theory I'll get to at the end.
The Eternals: We know the actors involved and that's IT. Supposedly will feature the MCU's first LGBT+ protagonist. No idea who it might be. I've heard Gilgamesh and Hercules tossed around.
No idea how to feel about this. I need more info.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: For those who don't know, Shang-Chi is one of the greatest martial artists in the world. In some newer versions he also has the power to clone himself. Will feature the real Mandarin (as in, not Trevor Slattery or Aldrich Killian, but the actual sorcerer with ten magic rings) - supposedly there have been hints leading up to this hidden throughout the movies. There will be a female lead, but the role hasn't been named and I don't know enough about Shang-Chi to speculate on who she might be.
Sounds okay. Looking forward to more magic.
WandaVision: Scarlet Witch's TV series! Will probably be about Wanda manipulating reality to get what she wants - her lover back, her brother back, and, possibly, children. But I'll talk more about that later. Will feature a grown up Monica Rambeau (the little girl from Captain Marvel). In the comics, Monica was the second Captain Marvel. She's also gone by Photon (which was Maria Rambeau's callsign in Captain Marvel, so that's probably what she'll be called here) and Spectrum. She has the power to absorb energy, and then fire it out of her (if I'm remembering correctly). I assume she'll get powers in this. Will lead directly into Doctor Strange 2.
Looking forward to this quite a bit, mostly for reasons that should be apparent later. But even aside from that, Wanda is a great character with a lot of potential, and I look forward to seeing what they do with her. Hopefully they'll fix their mistake of making her a Christian (she has crosses displayed prominently in her room in Civil War) and actually make her Jewish, like she's supposed to be. That would make some Wanda fans I know very happy. Monica Rambeau is also pretty cool from what I know of her. This is probably what I'm most looking forward too out of the currently-revealed slate.
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness: MULTIVERSE! Will also prominently feature Wanda. Possibly about Strange trying to teach her how to control her powers after something goes wrong in WandaVision. But she could also be the villain, for all we know. Will apparently be MARVEL's first scary/horror film (but still rated PG-13, so it can't be that bad). Might feature Nightmare (the living manifestation of fear who infects people through their dreams) as the villain.
All aboard the hype train for this!
Loki: Confirmed not to be a prequel, so might ruin Loki's death which would annoy me. HOWEVER it COULD be about the Loki who escapes with the Tesseract from Endgame, and therefore not actually undo his death. Still a bit annoying though.
Not especially hyped for this. But seeing some more of the Thor mythos could be fun. Again, the big reason I care will be the theory I'll get to at the end.
What If?: An animated series following possible alternate scenarios for how the story could have gone. For example, the first thing they're doing is "What if Steve Rogers died and Peggy Carter became Captain America?" Will feature all the main cast from the MCU voicing their characters.

Here are the confirmed actors returning. You should be able to work out who the show will feature from this.
Honestly not too excited for this. It doesn't seem like it'll connect to the main story so I'll probably skip it entirely, unless a specific scenario interests me, and then I'll watch that episode/s.
Hawkeye: Will be about Clint Barton training Kate Bishop to be his successor.
Hyped. I love Kate Bishop.
And that brings me to THE THEORY.
And that theory is this: THE DISNEY+ SHOWS ARE SETTING UP THE YOUNG AVENGERS
The big, undeniable evidence for this is that Hawkeye has been confirmed to be about Kate Bishop, who was a prominent member of both the original and second Young Avengers teams.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could introduce Eli Bradley (aka Patriot). Obviously Isaiah Bradley, the original Captain America doesn't exist in the MCU (though he could work without any too serious retconning). But I could see them making Isaiah a second attempt at Cap by the US, then go through the whole "tortured, mind shattered, retired, mocked, has an angry grandson who wants to live up to his name" thing. Or Eli could just be inspired by Sam to become Patriot. I'd prefer if that wasn't the case, but it seems most likely.
Then there's WandaVision. Will probably be about Wanda messing with reality to make her own perfect world, and what better way to do that than bring her fully-formed twin sons, Wiccan and Speed, into existence. She then loses control, and the soul fragments she accidentally used to create them could go and attach themselves to Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, waking up their latent X-genes and turning them into metahumans. Or maybe she'll bring them into being as teenagers already and they'll just stick around. Or maybe it's set some time in the past and all this has already happened but Strange has erased her memories, like in the comics.
Loki could end with Loki dying and being reborn in a teenage body, like in the comics.
Feige confirmed he was working on Young Avengers. Cassie Lang is already a thing. This is the way I see him doing it. Actually if they don't want to use Kang yet, since they haven't introduced Fantastic Four (and Kang is Nathaniel Richards, a direct descendant of Reed Richards, AKA Mr. Fantastic. He's also a time-traveller who uses his technology to attempt to conquer all of time and space) I can see them doing Hulkling's story as the introduction to Young Avengers, rather than Iron Lad's. Far From Home definitely implies more skrull involvement in the future of the MCU, so having the forbidden child of a skrull princess and a kree warrior being the catalyst for forming the Young Avengers.
and finally Thor: Love & Thunder. Will feature Valkyrie prominently, as the King of Asgard. Will also feature Natalie Portman's return as Jane Foster, and it appears they'll be doing a Jane Foster Thor storyline, in which Thor becomes unworthy of Mjolnir and Jane becomes the next Thor - in the comics, the power of Mjolnir also holds back the cancer she's suffering from, but they might not do that in the film. There have been hints at a romance between Valkyrie and Jane, Tessa Thompson having said that the King of Asgard might need her queen. But that might not be about Jane, but another character. Sif, maybe? In the comics, Valkyrie recently got a new love interest, an archaeologist called Anna Rigg or something, so it could be her. I suppose Thor might become the Jane Foster series, and Thor Odinsson himself will join the Guardians of the Galaxy, as was hinted at the end of Endgame.
Quite interested in this. We'll see how it develops.
The ComicCon panel also confirmed that the following properties were in the works:
Black Panther 2
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Captain Marvel 2
Fantastic Fourand "Mutants" (AKA
X-Men)
They also revealed that Mahershala Ali has been cast as Blade the Vampire Hunter.
HYPE FOR IT ALL.
I like that they're taking risks and experimenting.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
Where are venom 2 and deadpool3?
Venom is a Sony property, not part of the MCU. Beyond saying that Deadpool will stay R-rated (as he needs) and any future Deadpool content will be going on Hulu, rather than Disney+, nothing has been said about their plans for the character. And none of that is news, they said it soon after they bought Fox.
That was a good read. Thanks for that.
Three new Disney+ shows have been announced for Phase 4!
Ms. Marvel
She Hulk
and MOON KNIGHT
Personally I think Moon Knight should be a Hulu property - darker and grittier. But maybe that's the plan and they're just listing everything under the Disney+ brand 'cause that's what Hulu is anyway.
Has any fellow seen WandaVision?
So I've been rewatching the MCU from the beginning recently, and I figured I'd share my reactions here. I just watched
Winter Soldier today, which was the last MCU movie I hadn't previously seen (except
Hulk, which I wasn't counting, but will go back and watch now that Abomination is becoming relevant again.)
Anyway, here are my initial reactions:
IRON MAN: Still a great movie. I give it between an 8.5 and 9/10
(Yes that's all I had to say on it.)
IRON MAN 2: Wow there is really just nothing special about this movie is there? Whiplash should be a compelling character, but isn't. Tony's emotional journey is a great idea but in execution makes me feel nothing. Justin Hammer is obnoxious. It's a decent intro to Natasha. Even the action scenes are pretty boring. 6/10, I think
THOR: It's actually a damn good movie. Loki is immediately probably the second most compelling character in the MCU and his confrontation with Odin remains one of the best scenes. Something I've never appreciated before is Laufey's implied ptsd, and horror at the possibility of another war. It's a weirdly subtle performance for a character that could've been just a one-note evil villain. Jane Foster is also much more compelling than I remember, and her relationship with Thor is pretty cute. The kiss scene was really awkward and vaguely disgusting though. Maybe it was how it was shot? 7.5/10
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER: It could've been a genuinely great movie, but the second half is much weaker than the first. Steve and Erskine are great characters, and Schmidt was a great villain. I expected the Tesseract and the shield to be much bigger deals than they were. How did the Tesseract end up with that brave Norwegian man? And how did Schmidt find out about it? I want to know the story of the Tesseract, and I never will, and that sucks. The action scenes were kind of lame, there was some truly awful CGI, and a whole bunch of nothing characters. I also now understand why people ship Stucky. I don't, personally, but I absolutely see Bucky as having an unrequited thing for Steve. OH! And Jenna Coleman (best known for her work on the greatest TV show of all time,
Doctor Who) was the girl Bucky took to the Stark expo! Also why did they waste David Bradley on a bit part? 7.5/10
THE AVENGERS: Why did I used to underrate this movie so much? It's great! Almost everything about it is incredible. It's a great introduction to Banner, the action - which is almost the whole movie - was great, there were quite a few standout scenes. Loki is much less interesting than he was in Thor though, some of the camerawork was so fast that it's blurry on a small screen,
Spoiler
and the Chitauri all just dying when Tony blew up the mothership was dumb.
Endgame
Future Tony was very wrong about Cap's butt.
8.5/10
PHASE 1 MOVIE RANKING:
4. Iron Man 2
3. Thor/Captain America: The First Avenger (Thor is the more cohesive whole, but Cap's first half is 10/10)
2. The Avengers
1. Iron Man
And because this is the sort of thing I do, here is my character ranking for every single character in phase 1 who is even moderately important to the movies. Bare in mind that these opinions are based purely on how they appear in phase 1, I have attempted to not let their later appearances influence my opinion:

PHASE 2:
IRON MAN 3: Watched
Iron Man 3 for the first time and it's just... such an American movie. Like moreso than most other MCU movies. Anyway it was good. It started out terrible, the way it was edited was really weird. Characters are fairly bland. It handles Tony's PTSD fantastically though. Has some genuinely emotional moments, though
Spoiler
Pepper's "death" was undermined by the triumphant music they used during his fight with Killian.
And the ending was undermined by the fact that there are more MCU movies where Tony continues to be Iron Man. 7/10
ALL HAIL THE KING ONESHOT: It was really good. But was no one going to tell me that the MCU's first attempt at queer representation was not Joe Russo's cameo in
Endgame, but Justin Hammer and his prison boyfriend in this thing? Not surprised that MARVEL have tried to sweep that under the rug. What a tone deaf decision. Come to think of it, Justin Hammer will be a focal character in
Armor Wars. Wonder if they'll acknowledge that they decided to make him queer or if that part of his character will just be erased when it's no longer a throwaway gag.
THOR: THE DARK WORLD: Well I just watched
Thor: The Dark World for the first time and boy does the climax ruin what could've been a fun movie. There was some truly dreadful CGI, some truly dreadful costuming, Thor and Jane's kisses are still disgusting (seriously Hemsworth and Portman clearly have absolutely no chemistry). But the design of the Svartalf ships was fantastic, and there is a sequence in the middle of the movie that is almost pure gold, give or take some cringy lines. Asgard and Svartalfheim were both fantastically realised when they became important to the movie, but the establishing shots and the prologue made them look awful. Jane Foster was completely wasted, and by extension so was Natalie Portman. And what a total waste of Christopher Eccleston. That man has more acting talent in his left pinky than so many MCU actors, but in this film they just wouldn't let him act. They even had to dub over his voice with filters. Frigga was cool. Odin was ruined. Darcy was ruined and her romance subplot was terrible. The Warriors Three and Sif did absolutely nothing. Loki was boring Avengers Loki. And the climax was utterly nonsensical. Seriously I was loving this movie during the middle, but the climax just ruined it. 6.25/10
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER: The first word that comes to mind is overrated. Good movie? Undoubtedly. Best MCU movie? Nah. Subjectively, I even think I like
Thor better. Maybe it's that all of the insane plot twists didn't land for me because I already saw the future movies. Still, great story, really interesting villain, well-handled themes, good action.
Spoiler
I think the helicarrier crash scenes were a bit dragged out,
but that's really my only criticism. 8/10
So far the trend for Phase 2 sequel movies is that it makes the characters less interesting. Except Tony.
