Alright, time to update this post!

Welcome one and all to the Redwall RP Dueling Board!

I hope you are able to enjoy yourself here. This board is designed to keep things more organized in the RP section of the forum. It will allow you to easily scan through currently active duels taking place on our forums.

If you are currently planning a duel please make all OOC threads for duels in the RP OOC board. This board is only for IC duels.

Dueling is generally termed as one person writing with at least one other person in a combat fashion. Combat may take place on various levels in duels.

Basics>>>

Friendly duel (usually training, or sparring type threads) Can be neutral, good, or evil characters. Ex. two Salamandastron hares sparring.

Aggressive duel (usually your common fight type of dueling) can be evil vs. good, neutral vs. good or evil... etc. Ex. A mouse captive fighting a corsair vermin

Don't be boxed in. Get creative in designing your duels!

Rules for dueling vary depending on who is involved in the duel. People usually set up terms, and sometimes who will "win" and "lose" the duel, before the IC duel takes place.

Here are some common terms used for dueling:

God-moding: Making your character invincible to attack. Also, making your character not feel the consequences of an attack. Ex: The squirrel received a  nasty stab to the side and then carries on fighting as if it has not happened.

Autoing: Writing damage inflicted on your adversary during a duel. Ex: Martin stabbed his blade forward, taking the weasel through the side. Or, writing what the other person's character does. Ex: Martin stabbed forward and the weasel stepped into the blade.

Mary-sueing: Creating a character with no flaws, and/or prowess with every imaginable weapon, and/or every form of martial art, and/or... you get the point.

Ok, those are the basics for now. You may want to discuss these with dueling partners before you begin.

I am also going to make a commentary thread for people to discuss their takes on different duels in a positive manner.
