So I stayed up all night reading Dumbing of Age. Honestly did not expect to get as invested in this comic as I am. It's heavy stuff.

It's a semi-autobiographical story about a fundamentalist Christian girl starting college and somehow becoming friends with a group of people her parents would regard as heathens and her struggles to rationalise their relationships. It deals with themes of prejudice, cognitive dissonance, child abuse, gender identity, gender expression, self-loathing, depression, dissociation, feminism, alcoholism, drug abuse and personal expression. It's amazing.

The main character is the semi-autobiographical part, and the semi is because the author is male.
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.
